It was on 15th Jan 2021 (but the 3rd Friday of the year) that my amazing run started last year. Very happy to say today has brought me €50 - is this a good sign, I wonder?

Asked question b4, but is it only via paper exercise to withdraw savings with Prize Bonds?

  • Registered Users Posts: 733 ✭✭✭Sligo Quay

Just curious, did your uncle have a large holding or just a random old bond.

    Nothing for me this week.

He would be cagey with that sort of information, but every penny was a prisoner with him so id say it was a good bit.

I had my first win today but i can't find where on the state savings website that lets you know how much. The notification said to check the dashboard.

you can now do it via statesavings.ie if you are registered.

  • Registered Users Posts: 145 ✭✭skinnyfries

    The suspense is killing me…..

    How much did you win?

  • Registered Users Posts: 21,021 ✭✭✭✭dxhound2005

Nothing for me this week. Cork got an extra bit of luck, after winning no big prizes last week.

Prize Value Winning Prize Bond Location

    €50,000.00 AVZ162213 Cork

    €1,000.00 AAB335306 Cork

    €1,000.00 AVX585531 Cork

    €1,000.00 AXC827970 Cork

    €1,000.00 ALT918991 Cork

    Wow - 4 X €1000 to Cork! I think I'll move....

Assuming these belong to the same owner, how much would they have spent on that batch?

  • Registered Users Posts: 21,021 ✭✭✭✭dxhound2005

There are only 10 €1K prizes. It's exceptional that Cork got 4 and Dublin only got 2.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,066 ✭✭✭tuisginideach

I'm not much good on the calculations but by my guess, it would cost him/her €4.1m to buy out the rest of the AABbonds up to AAB999999 and the newest prizewinning bond in that Cork group was AVZ162213 so I doubt he/she bought the whole batch .... but then you never know!😊

  • Registered Users Posts: 292 ✭✭carrickbawn

I think you are doing better where you are. There was fewer than average big prizes in Cork recently, so were due a lift.

Its very random. I have 2 largish batches, both bought around the same time. About 18 months ago. 1 has won 3x50.

The other 1 nothing. I do check occasionally on the results page if that bonds serial letters win many prizes and it ranges from 5 to 10

every draw. So they are there but unfortunately they are not mine. We live in hope and still enjoy that "Friday Feeling "

Dublin and Cork combined get more than half the prizes in every draw. This week it was 52.87%. The rest of us are on slim pickings.

  • Registered Users Posts: 513 ✭✭✭tobdom

Slim pickings indeed...... 40k in PBs resulted in ZERO wins for the whole of last year.

It's remarkable to see the variance in luck based on the updates in this thread.

its remarkable that pbwinner won anything the last 3 years! :pac:

Not having luck. Am registered for PB. Could you point me to link please?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,066 ✭✭✭tuisginideach

Go to the Prizebond Summary page on statesavings.ie and to the right, just above the details of your PBs you'll see the option of Reinvestment/Cash in

Has anyone much experience of registering for the State Savings website (if you want to buy Prize Bonds or other products)?

I had to go through a series of security procedures before I finally got a letter back. It had a scratchcard with a code (which you had to tear off before scratching). I then had to retrieve the username and Code which I had given them when first applying. When I entered the scratchcard code, I got a text with another code number. I eventually got in to the site after about 3 or 4 codes in all.

I had mentioned to the guy in the local post office that I wanted to register for State Savings online. He remarked that I would need a degree in computer science to do it!

My password has to be 10 characters with at least 1 digit, one Lower case and one uppercase letter and one special symbol such as #. I wonder is State Savings desperately trying to put people off? My Bank account, Revenue on-line account and others are a doddle to manage by comparison.

    Really appreciate your patience.

It seems have never had a state savings account. (Or maybe i do and do not know it).

It requires an email and pw.

    I have a PB account.

    Statesavings.ie/Prize-bonds/tracker

    UN (not email) and pw.

This is where i view my numbers, but they are the ones i manually add from paper certs received.

However, they obviously have related record, as they inform me of winners here.

To add, just now tried a forgotpw with state savings and no record of my email, so guess i never had an account.
