2 more weeks of nothing for me. Have been checking out alternatives. Many years of being a prize bond fan but months of nothing on a significant sum of money have convinced me to look elsewhere for a return on my money.

    I cashed mine out today.

50k bought between June and August 2021.

Nothing this year and no win in over a year.

Best of luck to you all going forward.

€300 this year, works out at about 0.005% interest.

And that's pretty typical for the 4 years we've had them.

Did anyone here ever win more than the bog standard minimum?

Hi all, Just looking for a bit of advise based on your experience - Thinking of buying some bonds for the first time, have €35K to invest. Should I buy say €5k at a time over a period of weeks/months or invest the whole lump in one go ? Or does it one iota of difference ?

    Thanks.

€50 for me today, first win since 07 October. A little group of bonds which are doing much better than the rest of what I have. I also see that the ACK bonds in Fermanagh won again today.

I won €1,000 in 2010 and again in 2015. A poster called Agent Smyth won €1,000 in 2021. See posts #6875 and #6899 on page 230.

Do your calculation again, 0.005% makes no sense.

PTSB have doubled their deposit rates! ...but double feck all is still feck all.

    🙈🙉🙊

  • Registered Users Posts: 21,021 ✭✭✭✭dxhound2005

In the last four years you have 27 months at 0.5% and 21 months at 0.35% as the notional interest rate. Because of the way some of the prize money is reserved for the big prizes, the real world expected return with average luck is 0.35% and 0.25%. So at 0.5% you are doing well, and given that your prize money is DIRT free, much better than any other risk free product.

The best deposit rates in the EU are in Hungary. Far ahead of what Raisin Bank are offering in places like Portugal and Latvia.

Ah, I'm not saying it isn't comparable with rates from banks in recent years. But it was a deal better once, with more larger prizes I recall.

November count. The same 16 million bonds BBL to BCA in each of the 4 draws.

Friday 04. 110 prizes, highest BBO 13, lowest BBT 2

    Friday 11. 93, BBT 11, BBN 1.

    Friday 18. 111, BBN 10, BBT 3.

    Friday 25. 85, BBV 10, BBP 1.

    Highest overall BBV 35 (10, 7, 8, 10). Lowest BBZ 20 (5, 8, 5, 2).

    64 million bonds won 399 prizes, average per million 6.234. x 52 x €50 = €16,209.37. Divided by 62.5 to see what €100K would win in a year with the same luck = €259.35. Nearest to 5 x €50.

Makes no difference, other than the more bonds you have in the draw, the greater your chances. So better to put them all in one go.

Nothing for me today. The number of €50 prizes in the December draws is 4,686 up from 4,659 in November. The newest bond to win on 04 November was BCB 577343, newest 02 December BCI 956503, sales of around €44.7 million.

The €50K winner in Cork BCI 729320 is brand new. I got new bonds this week in the BCH series.
