Have about 8K in prize bonds.
Cheque arrived on Wednesday for €50 from last weeks draw.
Just went onto the prizebond site and I've won another €50 today:)

So two wins in a row:P

My last win was €50 last August.

Winnings from last few draws: €0
Total winnings since Feb 2008 on €18k: €1550

Date of last win: 15th of November (€50)

Nearly 5 months without a win. Where else to put 18K for a year?

Maybe a managed fund? Irish Commercial property funds are doing well, gone from negative to positive in the last year. Only my humble opinion. Do your own research. I'm in Friends First fund and it's up 4.8% since last November. Been rising consistently every Friday I check. Watch out for annual fees etc. Also some stock market funds might be worth a look but not for me as most are very highly valued now IMO. Good luck.

Out of curiosity, is there anyway of watching the draw live so to speak?

What time are results reflected on the prize bond tracker?

Don't think there is a live draw to watch, I think that there randomly selected by a computer and the results I find are always up before 1pm on the day of the draw.

Hi I just saw this thread.

I was thinking of buying prize bonds this year. I was wondering if people think it's worth it?

I suppose it is somewhere to keep your money etc at least.

I am not well up on finance. I recently paid off some debt and I have some extra finances this year for the first time in a while. It's not a huge amount to some but it is for me. I was thinking of doing this.

    Opinions?

Reading up it does not seem to offer much I might be better off just putting it in a savings account. It seems pathetic value really.

I've had 2 wins of €50 on an investment of €575 since mid 2012 so I'm happy with that. I don't bother checking them online. Its a great kick to see the envelope come through the letterbox.

I see it as more of a lottery than a savings account.

Does anybody know anyone that won anything exciting in it? It just seems to be €50's

I had 1000 pounds (pre Euro) to spare about 15 years ago & put it in Prize Bonds & forgot about it. Still waiting for the 1st envelope to drop thru' the door. No luck for me. But hoping I get the big one someday.

Its worth filling out the form to get PB to check your holdings, I thought Id cleared my account until I got €50 through the door one day, sent them the letter asking them to check and it turned out there was still a few hundred Euro in my name there even though Id told them to cash me out a few months previously.

Where did you get the form?

    New to this thread.

Had €5k in our current account around Christmas so we stuck it in Prize bonds as we might need to get our hands on it and am pissed off with pathetic interest rates on offer in banks.

Won €50 last month, so already we are doing better than any interest we would have gotten in a bank, but the nice thing is that there is an opportunity (somewhere between no hope and Bob Hope) to win a few bob more.

With interest rates so low and the security offered through prize bonds, I think they are a good investment, even if you win nothing, but I wouldn't be putting all my money in them!
