Got it for the Vita and so far so good. The hub and the quest-based structure were a pleasant surprise. I was expecting a more old-school approach for a scrolling beat em up. The missions so far are very short and quite easy, I'm sure that'll change though.

Haven't managed to get the online going yet. I have a free slot in my party which is set to "Join in" or whatever but I haven't seen any mention of online:confused:

The missions unfortunately do not get any harder, never died once in the game, decided to finish it up over the weekend, got to inferno mode and it was still far to easy, the enemies only scale to a certain level, so you are nearly always overpowered when soloing, although if you are playing with a friend or online, they do get attack and defense buffs, but it still does not make it any more of a challenge.

You have to reach a certain point in the game before you are allowed to use the online play
beat gazer in the lost woods
, which to my disbelief yesterday looks like a ghost town now, the community have all left.

Hmmm, thanks for the heads up.

Have you played it with all the characters? I went with the Knight as I had a feeling it was going to be a tough game. Might switch to a more challenging character as the Knight is a bit dull.

Played with the majority of them for a few runs, the knight is the most boring class along with the Amazon, they are basically the same, except the knight is more defensive and the amazon is more offense, although the amazon is a glass cannon and the dwarf is useless unless you like to pick things up and throw them plus has a low attack, it is basically no skill button mashing with the 3, maybe not as much with the dwarf though.

The Sorcerer/Wizard classes are quite fun, as with most games though you do not see their full potential till around level 35+ and the recharge time can get a bit tedious, you have to be careful with your mana though or you will finding yourself running away from enemies more times than not.

My personal favorite was the Elf, it is a very fun class and feels completely different from the other classes, they have the most and best combos in the game and they actually make you think about how you are going to attack, unlike the constant button mashing of the knight/amazon.

Following the advice above I switched form playing with the Fighter to the Wizard and the game is much more interesting and challenging for it. Playing without AI allies also ups the difficulty and coupled with the Wizard's more diverse system of mana-charging and range magic it makes for a more strategic game.

Am really enjoying it now. Once you get the Wizard leveled up a bit and get some abilities you're laughing.

I didnt think I should create a new thread here so if I should mods let me know.

Anyway I know I'm waaaay behind but I only recently got it in ps plus in my defence.

I was playing this at lunch time. I'm about 2 hours in.

So far I'm enjoying it. Boss levels are tough but you seem to be able to just keep continuing.

Its a beautiful game, oversexualisation aside, and looks fantastic on the Vita OLED screen.

Does the game get harder with no continues or is it essentially side scrolling beat em up with levelling up concepts in the backround that you can use or choose to ignore?

Once you beat the game once you open up new routes through each level which are substantially tougher. You can also choose to play through each level sequentially to try and get better gear but your lives don't renew, you can't repair weapons and you can only choose to duck out once a bos is beaten.

So you can storm through it hack n slash style essentially as your lives will just keep coming but if you want to replay the game you can up the difficulty yeah?

That sounds fair. That said I'll be doing well to get through it once I'd say.

Does the narrator just continue to point you in the right direction? I quite like the story telling and not having to think too much about where to go.

Muramasa lost me because there was so much back tracking. Beautiful game but a little to all over the place for my liking.

Nope, once you go through all the levels once you open up new routes through each level leading to new areas and bosses which are far more difficult. There's also the ability to kind of gamble with how far you can get in the game in one go. So you can play just one stage or you can choose to go straight into the next one with each subsequent stage you play increasing the likelihood to find rare loot and equipment. The game becomes a hell of a lot more fun once you reach this part of the game. (I think it opens up online multiplayer as well iirc). There's also a final boss to beat once all stages are complete through their second route.
