OK probably asked a bazillion times but i'd like to get a variety of personal stories, mods redirect me if theres a good similar thread if you wish.

Going to Aus on WHV with a couple of friends early next year and we're wondering the best way to go about it.

We know the obvious... get visa, book flights, arrive. Then what.
Do people find somewhere to rent straight away, or wait til they have a job and money, where do they stay in the meantime? Is it best to contact companies just before you go and say you'll be available for interview from whatever date? Should you wait to have an address before searching for a job? We know people in Perth and could possible say with them for a few days, but we were also thinking so going to Melbourne and dont know anyone there. Is it best to head straight for the 3 months rural work and get your second visa and then do the settling in a city stuff?

Basically how did you go about successfully or unsuccessfully settling in a city with a job and somewhere to live on a WHV?

    Thanks :)
