    first tings first my specs:

    cpu: i5 2500k
    ram: 4gb corsair dominator
    psu: corsair 750w
gfx: asus gtx 460 oc'd to 830 mhz
    mobo: asus p67 pro
    hdd 500 gb sata 3

i installed oblivion today, it didn't recognise my gfx card so it set it its medium defaults, i played the game flawlessly until i got out of sewers into open world.
so i decided this aint pretty enough so i hiked up all the sliders and turned everythin on in video options.
when i reloaded game everythin was blue it was as if i was looking up at the sky it was all just light blue, i could see the cross hairs compass and everythin else just no grass tree's water mountains nothin just blue. so i reset it to defaults and everythin was fine accept for PURPLE GRASS, what the hell is with this?
my system should be able for maxed settings on a 4-5 year old game no?

has anyone else got it running on gtx 460 and if so what settings

    Update directX fully
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3&displaylang=en

    Get the latest drivers
    http://www.nvidia.com

Get the latest updates for oblivion

    Get the unofficial oblivion patch(es)
    http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5296

If there's still problems, there's a few nvidia patches that you could try at tesnexus, but it might be a problem with the card itself or overclocking.
I used to get black screens now and again with my nvidia card. It went away with an upgrade to an ATI card, so it might be an nvidia thing.

Ah that's unfortunate. If there's any work arounds, I recommend that you try them as there are many great mods to experience.
You could try the ini settings in the last post or two.

    what kind of mods?
i decided to just grab a copy of the ps3 version because pc games can be a pain in the ass when somethin goes wrong with a game.
why cant they just be as simple as the ps3 just slap in the disk and away you go lol, i know pc's have some excellent benifits mods, customisation and even graphics wise :)

I haven't played recently so I wouldn't be fully up to date as to what is there, but a few simple mods can make the world of difference.

Without changing the game itself much, here's a few I think are good.

    1. Bug fixing
The unofficial patch above fixes loads of bugs that Bethesda couldn't be bothered doing.

    2. Managing mods
    Mod manager: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2097
    Script extender: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=37952

    3. The UI
I had a pretty simple one which just made the text about half size, but this seems to be a more advanced and customisable version of it. When you have a lot of items, it can get crazy scrolling through them all, so a smaller amount of space for each one is much more convenient.

    4. Harvest mods. These are fantastic. "Did I open that crate over there and pick those flowers?" Well this mod changes the appearance and saves a lot of rechecking.

    Harvest Containers

    Harvest Flora
    http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2037

    5. Texture mods. Quarl's pack 3 used to be the best and was some huge size.

    6. Key chains and extra hotkeys. These mods are great when you have 200 door keys in your inventory and want to have more than the original 9 items hotkeyed.

If you want to change things around, there's mods which add clothes, armour, swords, monsters, places, quests, people, spells and all sorts of other things which you wouldn't have even thought anyone in their right mind would make.

Deadly reflex - This doesn't change a whole lot but on the higher skill levels, you have a chance of freezing people with frost spells, setting them alight with fire, chopping off limbs, bashing them with your shield and other cool stuff.

Thanks, I may give the witcher a go eventually. It looks good and I like the development company's policies. At the moment, I'm trying to get morrowind finished... I've been at it a loooong time.

Sorry no PS3, I love the power that the PC bring to games - even if they are more trouble to set up. :pac:
