I went to my first OTT show on Saturday and I had an absolute ball. I don't know too many of the OTT roster but there were a few faces I knew.

For the opener, the now retired B. Cool came out as a surprise guest ref in a title match that LJ Cleary (who wrestled Pac for the All-Atlantic on AEW tv) won against Sammy D and then lost as he was subsequently cashed in on by Sammy's partner who had a briefcase (I forget his name). Martina poked her head out the curtains at the start too, she didn't do anything more.

Ex-WWE Carlito was on the card, he's looking well, not quite able to go like he might have been a few years back, but certainly didn't look too long in the tooth for what he was doing.

Trent 7 was also present, he put on a very good show and my friend's teenager was with us and they're a huge fan of his, so they were delighted to get a pic and a t-shirt.

Finn Balor even made a video appearance in the intermission saying he might be over for a visit soon...

The venue's great. Had good craic with the regulars outside in the queue for ring-side seats early in the evening (next time I'm bringing a few cans too). Already have my tickets for the next one in January with Eddie Kingston (although unfortunately the early access tickets were sold out). The evening ended with the faces in the ring and the whole place singing Fairytale in New York which was a lot more fun than it had any right to be.

I see the wrestling shop in Stephen's Green is back open. Didn't go in, only walked passed it on the way to the jacks.

Gonna head to Scrappermania, going with a few friends and I'm looking forward to finally seeing Mox.

Eddie Kingston has pulled out of the ott shows but says he will be back.

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 28,633 Mod ✭✭✭✭Shiminay

Yea, Shame Eddie can't make it, be nice if he was on the plane over with Mox to Scrapper in March mind :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 276 ✭✭jo187

First time getting to the complex for OTT last night. Had to cancel December show at the last minute.

Nice venue and close to city centre. Full House.

Great show overall. Confusing stuff to start. The draw who are heels are suppose to face Kings of the north. The Kings get great reaction and then turn heel in their promo and then wrestle against the draw who have to act like the baby faces.

There pushing Sammy D but he still acts like a comedy heel.

Mox and Damo confirmed for scrapper Dublin

should be a decent match, but would giving mox a local talent not he a bigger deal?

Just doing a full ex wwe match seems lazy from OTT

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,955 ✭✭✭rizzla

Yeah I was hoping for Mox v Martina or Mox v Angel Cruz

  • Registered Users Posts: 276 ✭✭jo187

To be fair Angel basically semi retired so putting him into a big match like that might be a bit much.

Mox has trent 7 the next night in England for ott. Maybe it's an aew thing to put him in there with people who they know are safe.

    Was about to post,

someone made a boo boo and i don’t think it was AEW

Wow, book Hijo del Vikingo and I'll still be happy.

    Or, ya know, Ibushi.

No.word from ott but there hyping ohio own mox as being there. Hope mox doesn't cancel.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,582 ✭✭✭bennyl10

yo'd hope they'd comment today at some point.

    can't really ignore it

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 15,417 Mod ✭✭✭✭Furious-Red

Swap mox for Kingston since he cancelled the other week? Obviously not the same level but decent replacement.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 461 ✭✭jface187

Strange still no comments from OTT or AEW. I doubt any top AEW talent would come over instead and clearly AEW don't care as they would know mox date's before announcing.

Just hoping it can be sorted it only a month or so away.

What promotions are there in ireland?

Obviously I know OTT, I've seen bits and pieces from NLW, FFPW, RCW and Hard Knox but is that it?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,248 ✭✭✭ThePott

There's NLW (No Limit Wrestling), all their shows seem to be in Kildare in the MOAT theatre.

If you count up North there's Titanic and Complete Anarchy Wrestling as well.

Saw in Dublin on Saturday there was something called Superstars of Wrestling Ireland who ran their first show, thought that was like one of those Wrestling.ie shows that they used to do but not sure it is or not.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 461 ✭✭jface187

Still no update on mox. Joe from OTT put up a tweet saying his looking into it with aew. That was Feb 9 and still no update. Its not looking good.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,955 ✭✭✭rizzla

It's kinda a given Mox won't be there. The delay is prob so when they give the bad news they have a biggish name to announce for the shows too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 461 ✭✭jface187

Hopefully. Is there really anyone? Presumably jericho/Bryan won't do it. As they would be on these house show if they fancy the extra work and flying last minute to Ireland is not making it any more enticing for them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,955 ✭✭✭rizzla

Just got the email from eventbrite. Officially no Mox. Replacement is Eddie Kingston and a TBC AEW star.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 461 ✭✭jface187

Saw that. You think if it was a big star they announce it now to stop people going for the refund. So not much hope of the big names. I take house of black as a substitute

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,875 ✭✭✭Pentecost

You'll get Pretty Peter Avalon and you'll like it. Maybe John Silver if you're lucky.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,955 ✭✭✭rizzla

I'd pop hard for John Silver.

I say maybe PAC. He's still based in England and no major storyline at the moment. Feck it just give us Miro, you ain't doing anything with him.

  • Registered Users Posts: 67 ✭✭BlueAndWh1te

Based on the poster for the AEW show that mox is on it looks like we’re not getting Claudio, Darby, Orange or Britt. Personally I’d love to see PAC, Malakai, Saraya, Wardlow or the Lucha Bros. I’m expecting someone like Brian Pillman jr though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,875 ✭✭✭Pentecost

PAC would be a good addition if they could get him. Might make sense if he's at home at the moment anyway.

Wheeler Yuta or Daniel Garcia I bet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,944 ✭✭✭hynesie08

So, considering they're not paying mox and Eddie is a make up, are they going to partially refund people who paid 70 quid for premium seats who are getting damo vs the clondalkin cruiserweight as the main event?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,582 ✭✭✭bennyl10

They probably will, but anyone paying 70 quid for the sole-purpose of seeing a 15 minute match probably doesn’t need the money

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 461 ✭✭jface187

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 461 ✭✭jface187

Got the email it's Pac. His great but clearly him and Eddie are not even close to a mox.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,582 ✭✭✭bennyl10

You’d hope 2 talent might stop some refunds though.

Kingston and Pac could well be given more match freedom than Mox would have had

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,955 ✭✭✭rizzla

Woulda preferred someone I haven’t seen live yet, will still be a good night.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,215 ✭✭✭✭B.A._Baracus

You know what's mad, like the Irish wrestling scene is roughly 20 years old at this point and like 99.9% of wrestlers have quit over the years.

Think about it for a second. Who's left from IWW that's still wrestling? Sheamus and Terry Tatcher from OTT. That's it.

NWA Ireland is of course Finn, Jordan Devlin and Becky being the most successful. Few more like Phil Boyd still going but what, less than 10?

No one left from CPW. DCW the same. Can't think of anyone remaining from Main Stage too.

Of all the lads who trained and wrestled in these promotions over the years there's like 0.05% left or something? Wrestling really does have a massive turn over. You would have to figure the same will happen to current guys over the next few years.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 461 ✭✭jface187

I think LJ Clearly will. I'm surprised ott didn't pick him to dethrone Hawkins for the belt. I think they need get him to top of the card soon.

Not sure what's going on with ott now. They just released a hype video that makes Sammy D as the underdog baby face representing Ireland. His been a heel all this time, seem a strange last minute move.

Between chatting GAA, soccer and rugby on the radio, sometimes I get to fit in a bit of the ole 'rasslin when I talked to Joe Cabray ahead of Scrapper

Embarrassing kayfabe fluff. No question about the Jon Moxley situation.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,808 ✭✭✭Sirsok

I should of asked him about Kingston also it seems....ruled out with Covid going by twitter

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,944 ✭✭✭hynesie08

Mox announced Vs Damo, MOX gets pulled.

Eddie Vs Damo announced, Eddie gets "COVID" but weirdly deletes his twitter.

Davey Richards Vs Damo announced, Davey outed as a domestic abuser.

    Damo is cursed.

(Also Cabray is a scumbag for using Richards in Wolverhampton even if he cancels him the rest of the weekend)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 461 ✭✭jface187

I put in for the refund tonight and got it.

It's noting much different of a card that you would get in the complex and it all building to Sammy D winning which is something I'm not in to.

I'm just home, I had a great time. I didn't know about the Eddie and Davey situations till a friend told me in the queue in, it's very disappointing and I can only imagine the frustration for the team organising. I'm bummed out I didn't get to meet Eddie Kingston (and also Mox tbh), but I had a lovely brief chat with Big Damo who was at the end of the meet and greet line after Santino, Martina, Omari and Trent.

It was fun seeing the usually popular Omari getting booed out of the place cause it was Paddy's weekend and Sammy D was always gonna win it seems. It was a fun main event. The Draw holds all the gold now. Martina beat Debbie for the women's belt (and I got sprayed with Guinness by her when she was doing her HHH water bit on her entrance). I got to see PAC do a Black Arrow 5 feet away from me which was amazing :)

Not sure what they're planning for Belfast, but in spite of things not going to plan, I had a great night.

Does Kingston ever fulfill his indie dates (especially internationally)? Feels like every week a message pops up on Twitter that he's "unfortunately had to pull out" of a scheduled date.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,582 ✭✭✭bennyl10

Best scrapper in years for me

all the better for not having to focus on the imports, let the talent really shine

hopefully OTT use this as the benchmark

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 15,417 Mod ✭✭✭✭Furious-Red

    What happened with Kingston?
