Tyree Cooper was at the forefront of the legendary Chicago house scene throughout the 80's, and his contribution to hip-house widened the appeal of house music across the globe. He is undoubtedly regarded as one of the most influential artists in house music.

Tyree was schooled at an early age while listening to the likes of Farley Jackmaster Funk, The Hotmix 5, Ron Hardy, and the electrifying energies of Frankie Knuckles. After meeting Mike Dunn at high school and learning how to DJ his mixing skills were mastered, becoming one of the most sought after DJ's in Chicago.

Although, it wasn't untill he met Vince Lawerence of funk band 'Jesse's Gang' (founded by Jesse Saunders) that his production skills came to prominence. Lawerence persuaded Tyree to put together a demo tape of his music to start a career as a recording artist. Chicago underground label ' DJ International' were first to sign him up, releasing his first 12" – “I Fear The Night“ (with female vocalist 'Chic') - which fast became an underground classic in Chicago. More hits followed...“Acid Over“(1988), 'Video Crash (1988) “Turn Up The Bass“ (1988/89),“House Music is My Life" (1989), “Let the Music Take Control“(1989). More releases also followed on Chicago's famous 'Dance Mania' records.

This was also the time when Tyree Cooper created a crossover version of house music together with his friend and fellow DJ 'Fast Eddie' Smith and which was known as hip-house. This style rose to prominence in Chicago and New York, and later became hugely popular in the UK.

In recent years, as the Chicago sound has become revitalised, Tyree's sound has remained timeless with re-releases on the excellent 'Clone Classics' label, aswell as his own Supa Dupa imprint. His most recent release was on 'Mojuba' where a Dance Mania classic 'Nuthin Wrong' features...




Local hero 'Automatic Tasty' also features on the night with his all hardware live show. Expect plenty of new material as ever from Wicklow's fast rising star....
