Hi posted before on the budget gaming thread but need quick advice as my son is getting cross and wants me to order the components for a gaming build asap. The cost of the following works out at approx €700. Is there anything we need to change? Or anything we have forgotten? The components are from amazon so there is no additional p&p. Thanks in advance for any advice received:)

Oh god yes!!! I ordered a pc from overclockers last week and thrilled to bits, assembled it a few nights ago. The PSU can't handle that, splash out on the Antec 620W one instead! For me, it kept randomly rebooting without warning when the GPU (the same as what you're ordering actually) was a bit demanding, but I'm lucky because it could've gone on fire or taken out other components instead. They're being a bit snotty about taking it back and called it unwanted and didn't believe me until they tested the rig out there to prove themselves right....and mailed me the RMA details moments later. overclockers have a great sale on today and I would recommend splashing out a little bit more for the i5 B3 Sandybridge Intel instead of the i3 if funds allow it. It seems the most futureproofed option. The wristwrap is a bit pointless in my mind, never charged anything when I've built machines, and nothing touching the metal bit of a radiator beforehand won't solve. Up to your own peace of mind really but I personally wouldn't. Hope this helps

For the sake of £50 I suppose it would be better to go for something that would last. I really need to order tonight as we've been researching online for weeks, alternating between ordering a ready built pc and building his own...

(With the possible exception of the RAM, I personally went for 8gb)

650W XFX XXX Edition is £4 cheaper and the 650W earthwatts is about £2 cheaper.
The 2500K (get retail for longer warranty), F3 hard drive and motherboard are all there for a couple of £ cheaper.

Thanks so much for all the advice guys:) I've now got a basket filled of more or less the same system in all 3 stores. Scan works out the cheapest at £655.78 including delivery. Amazon at £685 and Overclockers at about £700 delivered. Looking like I'll be going with scan, thanks again folks.

IIRC, you were getting windows from software4students?

Looks great. I hope you enjoy building with your son. Don't forget to add directly from the today only page to avail of the offers.

One thing that you might need is a spare SATA cable. MSI have been known to only include one SATA cable with some of their boards and you will need two. I recently got a board myself and there were two, I think so they may have changed back after receiving complaints. It might be no harm to have a spare anyway.
