    Theres one part of grammar that I've always struggled with.
    That's making the "ing" verbs. Changing from run to running. Drink to drinking etc.
    Especially drinking! I need that one badly :p
    Any help?

    thats the past participle :)

    take the nous form of the verb in the present tense
    drop -ons and add -ant
    eg. nous donnons -> donnant (giving)

    and then theres 3 exceptions
    étre -> étant (being)
    avoir -> ayant (having)
    savoir -> sachent (knowing)

    hope that helps :)

    EDIT: drinking would be -> buvant :)

    So, "The youths who are drinking" would be "Les jeunes qui sont buvant?"
    Thanks!

    And for like... more and more youths are drinking every year, would "Plus en plus jeunes sont buvant chaque annee" work? Not so sure about the "Sont".
    As you can see, I'm trying to prepare a drinking essay :D

    That's the present participle. The past participle is used as both an adjective and in certain complex tenses.

    No, it would be Les jeunes qui boivent . The indicative present tense.

    No point in learning off essays, chances are they will not be relevant. Instead learn off phrases that can be tied into anything, like ''C'est vraiment indispensable'' which means it's truly vital.

    http://brianlambe.wordpress.com/french-idioms-leaving-cert/

    This site has quite a few good ones that can be used in almost any opinion piece and they're generally simple to remember. 75/90 words is very achievable even if you have little or no knowledge of the subject anyway.

    Avoid direction translation at all costs.

    The youths who are drinking = the youths who drink.

    ie: les jeunes qui boivent (present tense)

    Job done.

    Anytime you feel inclined to add "ant", you 99% of the time don't need to.

    The present tense takes into account "ing" actions.

    ie: I am going to France isn't "Je suis allant en France", it's just "Je vais en France" - I go to France.

    I don't really bother focusing on topics like that, because they're just too unpredictable. I mean, permit du conduire anyone?

    Just have a strong base of verbs, opinion phrases, and adjectives, and try get ideas from the comprehensions you have read.

    Annoying thing about studying french, is that you can do a practice essay, but never be sure if it's 100% correct without a teacher to point out some mistakes.

    Personellement, je pense qu'il serait un bon idée si chacun type en Francais jusqu'a la fin de l'examen. Ce serait bonne afin de s'habituer a lire et a écrire en Francais. Cet idée. Qu'en pensez-vous, tout le monde? Nous pourrions bavarder sur les verbes ou des sujets comme le racisme ou n'importe quelle autre chose... :pac:

    Vous etes fou :rolleyes:
    Mais, votre francais est tres bien. Je suis null en francais, d'habitude.
    Mais, je suis daccord avec cet declaration. Ce sera un bon moyen de rappeler notre verbes.
    Alors! Racisme! Je l'adore!
    (C'etait un blague :pac:)

    you're right to not be sure about the 'sont' ... using it would be direct translation, the verb 'boire' means 'to drink' but it also means 'are drinking'... so you don't need to use 'etre' ... it would be more correct to say 'ils boivent' than 'ils sont buvant' ... it's the same for all verbs... 'ils regardent...fument' etc ... just hope you see this before 9.30 tomorrow....

    si chacun type en Francais
    qui devrait etre, "Si nous chacun"?
    (devrait ici est incorrect, sans doute)

    D'accord, parlons sur le Racisme. Tout d'abord, il faut que je dise que je déteste le racisme que ce soit le racisme en Irlande ou a l'étranger. D'apres moi, le racisme est un des plus grands problemes de nos jours.

    En fait, je ne pourrai jamais comprendre l'état d'esprit d'un raciste. Le racisme n'est pas juste ni intelligent. Que pensez-vous sur les racistes Irlandais? Je trouve qu'ils sont les plus pires gens de notre societé.

    Non, "chacun" est un mot masculin singulier.
