Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Bit of a mad one this, I turned the computer on today and thought it was going to explode. The aeroplane-like noise eventually stopped and the following error message popped up:

Alert! PCI Express card is operating in x1 mode. Strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to run set up utility.

Any ideas on this one folks???

Sounds like a problem on your pci-express graphics card. Sound was prob coming from it's fan failing. Continued use could very likely cause further damage to card and possibly pc as it would overheat.
Short term solution may be to remove card and swith to onboard graphics, if you have that option.

Open the side of the pc, there should be a slots for adding extra things at the back of the pc near the bottom, they have little removable cover things to hide the holes in the back of the pc. In one of those slots there should be a card with a fan on it, the card should be connected by a cable to your monitor. Disconnect the card from your monitor cable and pc case then just pull it out. Then find somewhere else to plug in the monitor cable.

Make sure you disconnect the power before you open the pc. If you cant do it yourself being it into a repair shop. They shouldn't charge too much unless the there is no alternative and the card needs to be replaced.
