    Hey,

Just wondering if anyone on here is heading up to Tymon Park tomorrow for this? Gonna bring the puppy as she got her cone of shame off yesterday and is dying to get out properly again :) Never been before, I hear its good fun though!

Would be nice to meet some people off here and their pooches :)

I was vaguely thinking about it :)
It's likely I'll drop in with one or two of mine

We did the St Anne's on about 4 weeks ago with Brodi, raised 140Euro :D

Won't be doing the one tomorrow as Bro is right in the middle of her heat so think it's wise to keep her away from other dogs at moment!!

I'm thinking about it but I'm puppy-sitting a friend's dog for the weekend as well as my own. He has all his vaccines and everything but can be a bit unruly on the lead and I'm not sure quite how well he'd get on with so many other dogs. If anyone has been before, can you please give a run-down of what exactly happens, how much interaction there is between the dogs, etc?

I haven't been on Boards for ages so didn't know about the Bark in the Park, I would have brought Ella, my 2yr old Rottie, She would love it as she's really dog and people friendly. Bah, raging we missed it, Did anyone on Boards go?? I'd love to know how it went. :)

I didn't go in the end as it was lashing rain and it's a fair drive.
There's another one in August in Marlay Park though so I'll probably pre-register for that :)

gypsygirl, unfortunately your girl would have to be muzzled at the walk :(
But it looks like it could be interesting (http://www.barkinthepark.ie)

    Thanks Koneko,
I must check out the Marley Park one, Shame about having to have my Babe muzzled but I understand that other folk wouldn't realize what a softie she is, :) if I saw an Akita I'd prefer it to be muzzled, so between now and August Ella is gonna have to learn the muzzle rule. I'll definitely get to the Marley Park walk, love meeting other doggie folk. El already has about 20 doggie friends in our local Park and loves making new ones!!

First off, I'm not trying to resurrect the restricted breed debate...
... but i'm curious as to why you would make a distinction between your dog and other restricted breeds, and specifically why an Akita?

Lol, I dunno really, maybe because ya don't see them too often and they're usually described as unpredictable, I've met a guy in Naas Park who owns three of them and he can only walk them one at a time because they're so aggressive towards other dogs and strangers, also an experienced handler I know has one and he also says his dog can show signs of aggression around other dogs. I think they're a beautiful looking dog but not sure if I'd trust one unless I'd known it from puppyhood ( even then I'd probably bit a bit wary ) :)

Sorry gonna have to jump in here and say owner not breed. I have an akita and he's the best dog I've ever had. If i bring rescue dogs in he practically adopts them and quite a few of our fosters have regained their confidence because of him; he's never shown an ounce of aggression to another dog. I know the owners of his parents and his grandparents too and they're all the exact same temperament. The breeder with his grandparents has four akitas who all live quite happily with eachother. Once they're properly socialised when they're young then they're absolutely no problem.

Not trying to drag up the RB debate either, but it's a bit frustrating when even other RB owners dont like a particular RB
