Basically I was told different call rates, discounts and service charges. I don’t want to go into too much detail as it’s just a general query.

I have made an official complaint, would the above issue be grounds for a penalty free contract cancellation?

    Thanks in advance

Probably, in an ideal world yes, but youd need to have evidence. Would you mind going into a little detail as it might help?

I was told that Vodafone would be €18 a month less than Eircom, its €13 or less cheaper.

I was told international calls where cheaper than Eircom, they aren’t.

I was told there wasn’t a charge for paper and online bills, there’s a €2 charge.

Phone services (call answering) is an additional €1.46 which I was not told about

From what I can see Vodafone charge €62 and then the calls on top, which would end up for that bill around €80 odd. Do that bi monthly to match Eircoms billing method and its €50 dearer.

Not to mention no welcome letters or emails or letter or emails when I was connected to each service. The first contact I got from them was a bill.

Then the issues where Eircom cut my net and only for my IT and networking experience id have no net for god knows how long.

Oh and also as my Dad has pointed out i have no physical contract, the only paper work I have is two forms from the sales rep.

Have you signed anything or signed up over the phone? Are you within your cooling off period?

I signed two forms with the door to door sales rep. Vodafones cooling off period is officially 7 days from point of sale.

I have made an official complaint and also raised the issue with comreg and notified Vodafone that I have done so.

If they have a decent customer service, and want to avoid the argument, then they'll waive the cancellation fee.

Heard of a few places doing it before. That being said, they could end up offering you compensation to stay with them or something like that. But if you accept anything like that, you're stuck.

You're supposed to recieve a letter/email confirming the order and a welcome letter/email anyway, they clearly have your address right if they could send a bill. Get onto 'em about that as well. Automated system or not, it was still able to send you a bill.

Yes I’m hoping that happens and I can go straight back to Eircom.

Ah no, I wouldn’t take compensation, that’s no use to me when I’ll be paying over the odds for another 10-11 months of the contract.

I’ve asked them a few times, customer care said they would resend the email. When I asked why wasn’t I told my phone and/or broadband changed over, I was told they don’t know and I should have gotten a email/letter.
