CAO Offers

Ok, so I have a question about the CAO Rounds of offers in august.
When the first round of offers comes and you are being offered your 3rd choice in level 8 for example. Is it possible that you can be offered your 2nd and/or 1st choice in the next round of offers?
And also if you dont accept the 3rd choice you've been offered in the first round because you wanted to see what other offers are going to be offered, can you accept it after the 2nd round if you don't like any of the offers from it?

AFAIK, you still get offers from the next rounds if you accept the offer from the first round, then you can choose if you want to keep the first offer or go with the new one (which you would, seeing as it's higher up on your CAO).

In answer to your first question, yes you can get offered a course of higher order preference in the 2nd round of offers. This happens when people don't accept a given course in round 1, and as a result vacancies are made for that course in round 2.

I'm not sure about the second :p

Yes, if the points drop sufficiently in the second round.

    No.

    Offers are time-limited.

However, as stated, if you have accepted the offer in the first round, that won't preclude you from getting an offer from higher off your list in the second round if you're entitled to it. Acceptance of that second offer automatically cancels your acceptance of the first offer.

(Before someone asks, you will get any offer to which you are entitled in the second round regardless of whether you have accepted your first round offer or not. However, you can't just decide to go back and accept your first round offer after the closing date for the first round has passed.)

    That's good.
And let's say you got 500 points and the course with the highest points requirement was 400. All other courses from 1-10 were in the 0-400 points mark. How many of these courses can you be offered in each round of offers?

One, of course. You will be offered your first choice in the first round, and you have the option to accept or refuse it.

Given that it was your first choice, and you have already been offered it, there is no possibility of any offer in the second round.

The CAO works on the principle that you actually knew what you were doing when you made your application.

I would advise you to read your CAO handbook and familiarise yourself with the system through which you are applying. The first post in this thread may also be useful.

You'll be offered your highest choice you're eligible for and that's it.

Assuming on round 1 offers you get your first choice, that's the only offer you'll get and the only offer you can accept, if you're eligible for your first choice every other choice is automatically cancelled.

Now say if you get your 3rd choice on round one, you wont get anything past it (4 onwards) but you may get your first or second choice after the next round.

This, also if you have level 8 and level 6/7 courses you will be offered 1 for each, as long as you have the points and there are places.
