Thinking of a career in teaching

I am currently undertaking a bachelor of business studies course and i'm trying to weigh up my options regarding a career in secondary teaching. The course i'm doing is recognised by the Teaching Council for teaching accounting, business and economics. Fortunately, I have 3 years left before completing my course plus a further possible 1/2 years if i do a postgrad in education which means i will be a few years before entering the job market. However, I am aware of the current difficulty in getting teaching jobs (particularly for business subjects) and the over-supply of teachers to that market.
Basically I'm wondering if anyone can advise me as to how the job market may look in 4/5 years time and whether or not it would be advisable to go down the education route after my undergrad.
Finally, is there anything in particular i can do in the meantime (volunteering etc.) that would be favourable when applying for post grad courses/jobs?

    Many thanks :)
