Jesus, there are some lovely bikes in here!!

Here's my one and only :o, 2 years old at this stage.

Alluminium Paganini frame, carbon forks, Tiagra gears. I use it most days commuting in and out of work (Cabinteely - Dublin City Centre)

Im not sure of any other spec as I am a total noob, entry level road bike I'm sure.

My first bike, have it around 9 weeks now and theres roughly 650kms on it. Changed the saddle for a 'softer' San Marco ProVip and the tyres to Schwalbe Lugano (puncture protected) and fitted a set of 105 pedals. Thats probably all i'll do to it and i plan to sell it and buy something with a bit better spec next summer.

    IMG-20120820-WA0000.jpg

My first road bike. It's an older BH entry level model that has some team replica style coloring on it (can't really tell what that model is).

    Components

    Frame: Alu, double butted
    Fork: carbon with alloy steerer
    Seatpost: carbon
Saddle: San Marco (again, can't make out the model, it's all just some team logos on it)
    Bars: ITM alu bars
Stem: Ritchey Comp (changed by me, the original thing was a bit too long)
Headset: haven't got a clue but something from FSA if judging by spacers
    Shifters: Campagnolo Mirage 9sp
Brakes: I'm assuming Tektro, no labels on them at all
    Rear derailer: Campagnolo Mirage 9sp
    Front derailer: Mircoshift
Chainset: FSA (not sure what the model is) 50/34
    Cassette: Tiagra 9sp 12-25
    Chain: Tiagra 9sp
Wheels: Rodi Stylus (very heavy but with bladed spokes :D )
    Tyres: Vittoria Rubino Pro 700x25c
    Weight: 9.6kg without pedals

Very comfy bike to ride, wouldn't call it stiff by any standards. Using it as my commuter now and for some training and getting used to a road bike in general.

Collected my new (S-H) Giant Defy 3 yesterday, needs a bit of love before I can take her out but i'm delighted with my fleet for now :D

Still have a lot of tar and crud to clean out of the transmission, despite two hours of cleaning this afternoon. But I swear I enjoy cleaning the bikes more than cycling them.

Finally got my carbon bars and forged ultralight brakes fitted, with stylish new red bartape...

    Heres my half fleet?

First is my Dolan...okay I sold it but I still have the memories. Didn't like this at all. Had Ultegra groupset bar he chainset which was Sram Red. Loved the groupset.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6034073/uploads/attachments/342227/219786.JPG

Second is my beautiful new frame- A Ridley Noah. I'm chuffed to bits with this. In a dream world it would look sexy with Sram Red all round but I think I'll go second hand ultegra or something but will be investing in the Planet X forged brakes. Also needs deep section wheels. They are a must for the 2013 season. Think I'll go tubular and order from E-Hong Fu and buy some decals, I'll see. Other bits and bobs have been ordered from Chain Reaction. I really can't wait for this to be finished.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6034073/uploads/attachments/342227/219788.JPG

And finally, my first ever road bike. Bought for three hundred euro from a mate and I've been hooked since. Used to be my main racer when I was an u16 but this year looking sorry for itself will be retired to my winter hack when I build it up. Spego GO bike, terrible name but was my baby.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6034073/uploads/attachments/342227/219790.JPG

I also had a Sunn Falcon full carbon bike. Truly fantastic bike. I was in love with that bike for the year last season. Really do believe its what made me competitive in races. Such an understated bike. Sadly at the start of this season I found a crack separating the rear stays from the carbon... I was gutted! No real picture of the bike just one of me breaking off the front of my group in the final race off the Tipp Wheelers league race last year.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6034073/uploads/attachments/342227/219797.jpg

In between my Sunn and Dolan, I had a loan of a Stratos frame which I had my Ultegra groupset and Sram Red chainset on... I hated it tbh.

latest addition to the fleet - a 2009 Giant tcx 2, sora 9 spd cyclocross bike.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,458 ✭✭✭lennymc

its been a busy week. Bought a cyclocross, sold a road bike and picked up a frame to build up a city bike.

the frame is a dolan frame, not sure of model, with a 1 inch carbon look fork. To it I added an 8 speed sora rear derailer, soras compact chainset, ricthey ds wheels with conti ultra sport tyres, tektro r580 brakes, some 8 spd mtb brifters and straightish bars.

I need to add a braze on derailer on the front, but overall, im very happy with it. It rides extremely well, and I like the looks.

    Frame as I got it

    Built up

    DSC_0145_zps81562c48.jpg

I need to cut the steerer and maybe add some kind of mudguard.

My beloved Surly, I,ll change the stem and bar sooner or later against something with more backsweep, but other than that i'm pretty happy with it

    sorry for the crappy picture

    my updated winter commuter.

new wheels built by holyboy (the gold rear dia compe hub was going cheap!), with a shimano n80 dynohub with b+m cyo 60 lux.

    phillips LED as back up.

first time riding fixed (before this incarnation the bike had a freewheel), and have covered a bit of distance so far, including over 90km today. i like it. gearing is 48-18

    saddle bag is a barley.

yes the gold looks a bit silly, but it'll brighten up the winter!

So heres my newest bike, a Ridley Noah. Absolutely adore this machine!

    Heres the spec;

Dura-Ace 7800 Chainset (Courtesy of TheDocMan)
Dura-Ace 7800 Rear Mech (Again courtesy of TheDocMan)
    Ultegra 6600 Front Mech
    Ultegra 6600 Flightdeck Shifters
    Ultegra 6700 Chain
    Ultegra 6700 12-25 Cassette
Unbranded Brakes- Soon to be upgraded to Planet X Forged brakes.
    Selle Italia Trestina Saddle
Easton EA 50 40cm Alu Bars
    Ritchey V2 100mm Alu Stem
    BBB Red Bar Tape.

The picture with the carbon wheels- sadly they aren't mine but they're Grammo's the front is a 50mm andI think the rear is a 88mm Grammo Viper. We put them on because we thought they looked good..which to be fair..they do:p

My own wheels are the Alu ones which are just to get me through the winter. They're Flyer wheels with Miche hubs. Strong wheels which have lasted a long time. Started as my race wheels long ago:pac:

So in time I'll upgrade the stem, wheels and definitely the brakes.

    My "new" winter bike.
Might flip the stem, change the saddle and put 25mm tyres on.
Will take it for a spin tomorrow and decide.

    I just washed my fleet...

    484944_10151086934122493_199178563_n.jpg

Weather forecast for tomorrow is pretty good, might take the BMC out for one last club run before putting it away and sticking to the SS winter bike with full length mudguards...oh the difference they make!

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,131 ✭✭✭Dermot Illogical

The fleet as of this morning, minus one Ridley Eos which now lives abroad.

Raleigh Elan is now all dressed in black for the winter.
    229520.jpg

Benotto is resting up until spring.
    229521.jpg

    Bianchi for dry commutes.
    229522.jpg

All are steel frame. Hopefully there will be an addition soon which will change that.

My first road bike for 15 years - I've been mountain-biking in between, but I was doing more and more on the road so decided to get:

    PX1.jpg

    PX2.jpg

A standard (mostly Rival group) Planet X SL Pro from the lads in Athlone. Very happy with it so far!

    Apologies for fuzzy pic..

Just what one needs in the middle of winter - a track bike.

2011 Fuji track 2.0 picked up yesterday. Its stiff.

Ill play around with the seating position tonight. Have to adjust bars, saddle and get proper pedals.

Like Lenny, I have also had a mid-winter fleet expansion....
