Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Chrome access denied on DL install

I've been experiencing a weird problem with Google Chrome. On many programmes that are downloaded they won't install saying cannot create C:\ System ~2 [etc] access denied.

    Running Windows 7 Home Premium.

Some programmes will install but others won't, however, here's the kicker, I reinstalled Firefox 5ß and downloaded the software and they all installed. Only difference is that Firefox downloads to it's own download folder.

From the Chrome download folder the programmes will not install.

    ????

You can change where Chrome downloads to so they're both downloading to the same folder. Click the spanner > Options > under the bonnet.

    May help fix things?

I thought of that, but I've not tried it yet. I could not think of why it'd make a difference.

Wherever you have set your download folder to, you may not have write access to. Try a different directory.

No, that's not it. I update a few programmes regularly, one particular program has 12 update in the same folder, version 14 won't install. Older versions will from the same directory.

Plus another program has installed from the same directory as a new download.

This event has happened a few times recently, it's a new event and I've been using Chrome for several months ~ I just assumed that I had a corrupt download or a virus, trojan or something, everything is coming up negative.

What made me try another browser was when I DLd two different anti virus programs, one installed the other did not.

Funny thing. I've just taken out the offending programs from the Chrome download folder and copied them to another one and they now install.

I have checked the permissions they seem fine no different that I can see from my other folders.

    Scratching head?????
