Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

South Korea 0-1 Iran, Iran have qualified for the World Cup.

Uzbekistan have not scored enough goals so Korea finish 2nd and qualify too. Uzbekistan go through to the next round of qualifying and will play Jordan or Oman.

Queiroz and his coaching staff acted like proper tits at FT, shouting and jumping in the direction of the Korea bench because of what was said after the last game between them.

Yeah, I was disappointed with Queiroz. It was a very unseemly end to the match. I felt bad for the Koreans because they were down about losing the game and the gloating of the coaches made them feel worse. Probably the most disappointed I've seen a team that has qualified for a World Cup, though maybe they celebrated more afterwards I dunno. I watched it on Eurosport and they didn't hang around for long.

I saw a bit of the Australian game and it looked like the coach made some ballsy substitutions. Looked like Cahill was none too pleased about being subbed but he was happy at the end, so I guess the ends justify the means.

NI leading Russia 1-0 at H-T. Hell of a result for them and O'Neill if they can pull this off.

They were 1-0 up in Lisbon too until the 79th minute. It'll be interesting to see if they can hang on for the win this time.

Yes but that'll be a long, long 45 minutes in which to do so.

It's a funny game. NI will occasionally beat a top seeded team but then struggle to get a draw against the Mongolian ladies XI.

NI and Scotland are capable of beating the occasional decent team away but it's been a fair while since either has qualified for anything. 15 years for Scotland and 27 years for NI.

RoI might be a touch envious of both teams' ability to nick the odd upset but not so much when it comes to both's propensity to get thoroughly embarrassed by minnows.

true, its their away form that lets them down , even against the weaker teams at times , they were also missing alot of players as well. i think fabio will definitely who NI are now, in an interview a months ago he said that he had never heard of NI maybe the firealarm going off in the russia's hotel helped as well :D

Each team in our group has 3 remaining games. We could potentially get 6 from those three games. If we beat Austria on Tuesday, they are out of the equation. Sweden could potentially get 9 points from their three games. They got a 4-4 draw in Germany so I wouldn't rule out a win for them in Stockholm. Germany could also be qualified by that stage and take the foot off the gas. What are the chances of Sweden slipping up against Kazakhstan on Tuesday? Even a draw in Astana and a draw in Stockholm v Germany and we are laughing. Although I'm not sure how motivated the Irish lads are to go out and beat Austria. In saying all that, we probably don't deserve to be in Brazil :( The look in Keno's face last night was heartbreaking. Is there any chance we could give Germany a run for their money, its some of the lads last chance, and certainly the managers last chance. Nothing motivates the Irish team more than having out backs to the wall.

    Comon Kazakhstan!

Cape Verde beat Tunisia earlier to go through to the playoff round. The two late games in Africa were interesting. If Uganda had beaten Senegal they could have jumped ahead of their opponents into 1st like Cape Verde did, but they lost 1-0.

They'll be seeded based on the FIFA rankings as of the time of the draw 16/9 (rankings are scheduled for release on 12/9).

As it stands those 10 teams are currently ranked :

    18 Côte d'Ivoire
    24 Ghana
    34 Algeria
    35 Nigeria
    36 Cape Verde Islands

    48 Burkina Faso
    51 Cameroon
    61 Egypt
    78 Senegal
    102 Ethiopia

As one can see there's a 12 place gap between top half and bottom half , so you'd have to figure the actual split will be fairly close (if not exactly) as is.
