Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I think Collins hasn't watched Uruguay in a while if he thinks Italy and Uruguay is a favourable draw for England!

There goes Geoff Hurst's knighthood. Going by the doom and gloom already from BBC

Don't think they can beat Chile and Australia?

    Australia > Yes

    Chile > not really
    I rate them quite high.
Arguably the best team after Argentina and Brasil in S America since they changed coach.

I'd have group G as a group of death aswell. USA and Ghana arent exactly easy opponents.

How do you make that out? For Group B Chile are no great shakes and Australia are absolutely terrible. For Group D Costa Rica are rubbish and England are quite poor.

Chile are good which makes 2 very good teams and 1 good team

England are ****e yes but they're not that ****e. Costa Rica are decent

You clearly no little about Chile these days. No pushovers.

C is going to be a fascinating group. All out attack of Japan, all out 'solidity' of Greece, anaemic Ivory Coast and Columbia..

    E, F, H not so much.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,097 ✭✭✭roanoke

B and D (and G) are definitely the toughest.

Even though Chile convincingly beat England recently I'd still think England would have rather got Netherland's draw rather than their own.

Netherlands will get past Chile, too loose at the back, have very very ordinary CBs even with their new coach they are conceding far too many. Colombia are a better side and have an easier group. They'll go further.

We might as well agree to disagree right now :P

It's a fair enough draw as far as I can see. If England were better then it would be a group of death.

Chile will rip Holland apart on the counter, just like they did England and to a lesser degree, Spain.

The order of which the matches are played might favour Holland somewhat. First Spain, you better have that one out of the way so you know what you need to do (win 2x most likely)

Round of 16 could be very tasty. Brazil v Spain/Holland anyone ?

In before Messi doing it at the WC doesn't count because they got an easy group.

England's first game is at 2am, that's the only kick-off I can see at the time.

Me too, Klinsmann in charge of the USA who score goals against Germany. Ghana the second top African seed.

Hope England don't bring any Norwich players to the finals!

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,868 ✭✭✭Andersonisgod

Just saw betting odds flash across my screen on RTE, Spain are the 4th favourites?!? A group of players who have won the last 3 major tournaments (an accomplishment that is unprecedented) and who could probably field a second team that would be feasible World Cup winners. Ridiculous.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,126 ✭✭✭Psychedelic

What are they on about lots of travel involved for England, do they not have domestic flights in Brazil? They're not going to be stuck on some crappy bus for 12 hours anyway.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,849 ✭✭✭764dak

The draw is disappointing. There are too many rematches from past World Cups.

    Im bored so Last 16;

    Brazil Netherlands
    Spain Mexico
    Colombia England
    Italy Greece
    Switz Bosnia
    Argentina France
    Germany Russia
    Belgium Ghana

Delighted with the Group D draw, that's a tasty enough one. Suarez against all the English fellas will be interesting to say the least.

Think Switz placement in Pot 1 could see them through to the QF here if they are solid. France's last few outings have been embarrasing at major tournaments. If Switz get through first, they'd be most likely up against Nigeria/Bosnia in the last 16.

I think Group G is probably the Group of Death. Group G is the only one where I honestly think any team can qualify from. I've expected Germany and Ghana, but Ronaldo turning up would shake things up and USA I would imagine be the banana skin.

Blegium's wonderkids have a nice draw, I'm rooting for them to make semi's provided they're at full fitness.
