Apple selling unlocked iPhones from US Site...Will they work here?

So Apple have decided to sell unlocked GSM versions of the iPhone 4 via their website in the states at $649 or €448 16gb or $749 or €517 for 32gb, which is quite the savings on the Irish site of €599 16gb and €699 32gb. Should work fine, just beware there will be some US tax to pay on top of that price. Makes sure to ditch the packaging too, as otherwise customs might start looking for 'their' VAT.
