Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hey all, I want to rip all my cds to mp3s and keep them on my laptop. There seems to be loads of software to choose from. Anybody have any experience with any particular programs that are good or bad to use?

They all should be about the same, there all doing the same job and there's not much things that can be done differently. Its probably easiest to just use windows media player you don't have to install anything. Just make sure you change the rip settings from .wma to .mp3 and set the quality to whatever is your preference. Windows Media Player will also get the album cover and info automatically and arrange all the music into folders depending on artist and then album folders inside the artist folder.

I like EAC exact audio copy. It tends to do everything I need.

Yeah, there are tons all right.

Personally I use Foobar with the rip plugin.

    You could try this link.

iTunes will do this too. Just remember to change / tweak conversion settings to mp3 rather than default apple format.

If I used Windows Media player, would it create a new folder for each cd and automatically name them?

    From the article I linked.
First off, some reasons to take this road: iTunes is a decent audio encoder, and it'll get your music from point A—the CD—to points B, C and D—your computer, your MP3 player and your backup drive—without much trouble. But it'll do it with a less-than-great encoder, with occasionally inconsistent tagging, with album art that'll only work on Apple devices, and without support for the best lossless audio formats and MP3 encoding options, which you probably want, whether you know it or not.

It makes a folder for every artist, and inside the artist folder it makes a folder for every album, you have to turn that feature on it the settings though it needs permission to do that before it will.

Yes it will (if you are connected to the internet).
Before you copy the first one, change the format it saves to, from WMA to MP3 and select the sample rate (I use 320). The higher the rate, the better the quality (and individual mp3 file size).
