playing external movies on Xbox 360

    Hi Guys
    i am trying to play movies on an external drive on my xbox 360 but wit no success any help would be great...:cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::cool:

    Is this via a memory key or via Windows Media Server?

    EDIT: Just read your post again! The external hard drive needs to be formatted to be viewed by the xbox. See here.

    EDIT: Please be careful when formatting the external hard drive. Make sure no files or folders are on it when you do run the format or it will remove everything!

    I agree with chin_grin be well careful. I found it easier to just stream from windows media centre. Same job but in a slicker fashion :)

    I use Mac and i am finding it hard to stream i am considering getting apple TV..????????

    If you want to stream content to your 360 (other than .mkv) try using TVersity. It's free software, simple to install and generally does all the tweaking for you. It'll transcode on the fly any formats that are not natively supported by the 360. Only problem I ever had was with .mkv files as they were huge and required transcoding to play which required a very fast PC.
