    Hey,

I am using Autocad LT 2010 and have a drawing which was taken from a layout in GIS. I am unsure as to how to display / set the scale when plotting or working in the paper space.

Any suggestions / help would be great as there is a deadline on this work.

    Cheers

Double click in the viewport in Paperspace.

You are now working within the viewport.

Zoom the siteplan to the extents of the viewport.

To then get the siteplan to a certain scale (say 1:1000)
    (still within the paperspace viewport)

    type the following

    z
    enter
    1/1000
    enter

The siteplan is now at a scale of 1:1000 in paperspace

Cheers, but this is the part I don't get, do you reference it by dimensioning the paper space?

No, you dimension the siteplan in Model Space.

Sorry yeah I didn't mean it that way, how do you know when the drawing is at 1:1000 in the paperspace? I know you can scroll it around and zoom in on particular areas but not sure how you know what it will plot at.

    Thanks for the help

if you follow the instructions after the bold text in my initial reply it will work.

Before you plot just make sure you're in Paperspace and not within the viewport.

You were missing a small bit of the command there ;)

You'll also need to check the units that the original drawing is in. Some GIS and Land Surveying software has the units set automatically to metres. If they are, you'll need to change the scale input before you print.

So for instance, to print your drawing at 1:1000 if your units are metres, you would input

    z
    enter
    1/1xp
    enter

and then carry on as described before

I generally dimension in model space but use paper space for Title blocks and general notes.
