Oh and another Street view thing I saw a while back. A house blurred!

I'd be worried that doing such a thing would actually attract more attention/curiosity to your house.

and come to see this picture, and recognize that, thats their father,

    very distasteful

Not sure what is wrong with any of those views -
    No worse than a photograph.
People forge that street view is not a "live" view on a street - it was a once off (which may be updated at some point in the future) picture that you can request to be censored if that is your wish.

Sadly there are lots of things in society that people tend to want to keep quiet but these people, who are in that position for whatever reason, are as big a part of society as you or I.

Yes and they would not have a forum of people

    laughing at them.

    Come on.

I find people getting pissed, littering and falling asleep in public way more distasteful than anything said in this thread so far.

Indeed, the curiosity is killing me, I'd almost drive to Galway just to see if it's blurry in real life.

Galway IS blurry, if you've been drinking.

I read in a local paper before that a shopkeeper was worried that criminals in Belfast could "stake out" his shop in Kerry using Google Earth.

What's with the excessive use of line breaks and commas?

To the best of my knowledge, what Google do is legally alright, as they do not enter private properties (they don't drive through the NUI Galway campus) and they get around the consent issue with face-blurring. As far as ethics go, there can (and has been) a million debates on the subject. But like it or not, the more prevalent Internet and location technologies become, the less privacy people are seemingly entitled to. Also the fact that Google Street View is "opt-out" as opposed to "opt-in".

I suggested that a relation of the poor drunken fellow
    might be reading the thread.

Broken English, olde english, bad english. Very interesting.
Anywho, i dont understand why anyone would be offended/bothered by it. Why are you worrying about someone elses fellings that you do not know?

I don't know, that shows that the house itself may be fine (although from that distance the house may seem in focus) they may also have blurry walls.
