Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Only Newcastle.

Saylor was a ****ing giant tonight. Probably his best 90 minutes in a black and white shirt. Harsh on them but who cares!

not good for the hear that! Delighted for Cisse! A cracker and two last min winners cant have done the confidence any harm!

I was just about to say Cisse's English is really good.

Then he doesn't understand a simple question. :P

  • Registered Users Posts: 251 ✭✭Anoeta

Happy days!! 4 clean sheets in a row now in Europe too. Look forward to the draw tomorrow. Hopefully avoid Spurs and Chelsea.

Lads, that was one helluva result against a top quality side. I know we got a bit of luck, but to put them out is a very big achievement.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,781 ✭✭✭Motivator

    And that was.........UNBELIEVABLE.

Can't get over it, I'd say Newcastle will score about 5 against Wigan on Sunday now. What a result against a very good team, hopefully get a bit of luck in the draw & avoid Zenit tomorow - leave Spurs or Chelsea play them! Eto'o is on more money than the whole Newcastle starting 11 put together! What a wanker!!!!!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,161 ✭✭✭BetterCallSaul

Cisse may be a very frustrating player but the lad guarantees goals. He's had an abysmal season, playing half it as a winger and he's still hit double figures at this stage.

    Marveaux needs more game time.

    Zenit are out

That's two games that Marveaux has set up Cisse for last minute winners. Would certainly start him against Wigan.

    F*ck the f*ck yeah! I'm in work so I couldn't watch it :(

Anyone have a video of the goal?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,917 ✭✭✭✭GT_TDI_150

We are in the quarters of a european comp!!! After a poor performance!

Lets avoid chelsea, spurs, lazio and benfica until the semis

I fear we'll draw lazio in quarters winners to play winners of spurs and basel

Chelsea to draw benfica winners to play winners from fenerbahce and rubin

Now there you have it, no need to tune in tomorrow

What time is this draw at today? Really hope we can avoid Spurs and Chelsea. Luck has been with us so far so hopefully that continues and the draw is kind to us.

Anyone else worried about this weekends match? Can you see Newcastle slipping up? Hard to know which Wigan side will show up

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,161 ✭✭✭✭M5

Draw is at 11:40, live on eurosport

Yep. For all their relegation worries they are still one of the better footballing sides in the league. They tore Everton to shreds last weekend.

I don't see why people are fearful of either. We know both opposition very well and have beaten both this season. Both clubs are also pushing for hard for CL places so I'd fancy our chances over two legs

Don't fear any of the teams left considering Newcastle just put out a team like Anzhi.

I get what your saying but I would still rate our chances as less against both Spurs and Chelsea than against the other teams left in the competition.

We beat one of the best teams in the competition by playing poorly. Logic tells me that if we play well against any other team, we'll win the thing.

    Ah logic.

Ha ha if only it was that simple. I've just noticed the draw is seeded. So we can only play Spurs, Chelsea, Lazio or Fenerbace.

Sunderland game will probably be moved to the Sunday. In fact, I'm 90% certain it'll be changed.

Strange, as according to UEFA its an open draw
This is an open draw. No teams are seeded and clubs can be paired with others from the same association. The first team drawn plays its first match at home, against the second team drawn. The same procedure is then repeated for the other quarter-final matches.

I could be worng then. I looked at their site and seen Pots 1 and 2 and assumed it was seeded.

Yep it will definitely be moved. I am heading over for the Fulham game the week before. That will most likely be moved to the Sunday too.

It's a blessing and a curse in one fell swoop.

Pros: I can get a bit of kip on the Saturday when I arrive.

Cons: If we win on Sunday, my flight on the Monday is relatively early so going on the almightiest of benders may not be a good idea.... :pac:
