Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Decent draw, home in the second leg.

    Very winnable over two legs

  • Registered Users Posts: 251 ✭✭Anoeta

Could be worse. Gonna be two tough games though.

Benfica away in the first leg... They play at the Stadium Of Light too. ;)

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,746 ✭✭✭TaosHum

Avoided some tough away trips to Turkey and Russia.

They are a good side, but with Colo, HBA and hopefully a fit Cabaye, we can get by them

Great draw. Avoided Chelsea and Spurs and don't have far to travel.

They are obviously a good side, top of their league; but we have a chance.

It was crazy throwing him in, first game back, on a plastic pitch.

As always with nufc, the opportunity to enjoy last night tinged with the Ben arfa news

Shocking challenge. You'd have to assume the officials didn't see it properly.

Not sure what they were looking at if they missed that .... I tought it was quite obvious at full speed with the camera miles away that the challange was horrific.

Players in the way perhaps? I can't understand them not giving a red if they did see it, so I'm just guessing really. I'm sure they will show officials positions at half time anyhow.

Forget about seeing Haidara again this season then.

Its a knee high, studs up horror tackle, dying to see the refs take on it...

The standard of refereeing this weekend has been shocking. We were denied a nailed on penalty at Godison yesterday (Fellaini was at least a yard and a half inside the box), Everton were denied a valid goal by an erroneous offside decision (although that was a very, very close call) and Norwich were well and truly shafted up at Sunderland today (a 'keeper wrongly sent off, a very harsh penalty awarded against them and a similar incident to the Fellaini one in their favour resulting in no penalty.

The fact they havent been able to examine his leg due to him not being able to relax/stretch his leg would lead you to believe it is a really bad injury alright

Jesus, that's fúcking shocking. What an awful tackle.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,302 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

Carver sent off, deservedly so. Along with a Wigan Coach.

Was a horrible challenge, not even booked, which at least means he can get punished for it after the game?

No use to Newcastle that though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,846 ✭✭✭Moneymaker

Carver should have chinned the tramp.

Would be worth the ban and fine.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 727 ✭✭✭Morpork

Days like this I hate watching football. How in the name of god is McManaman allowed to stay on the pitch after that tackle? Why are the rules of football set up that it's even possible for it to happen? There should be measures in place to insure it never happens. Such as extra officials on the side lines or video replays a challenge system or whatever.

When it's possible for a player to get a season ending injury, have a teams chances to win reduced and the opposition aren't penalised then that is simply unfair and wrong.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,205 ✭✭✭Gringo180

That thug McMeniman deserves a lenghty ban, at least a season ban. SCUM!

I watched the Sunderland game, Norwich absolutely done by the ref. We had a nailed on penalty not given against stoke too. Its getting worse and the gauling thing is its simple to fix it!

If the ref has the tackle in his match report no action can be taken. Even then it has to be deemed violent conduct for it to be revisited

Well it was pretty violent, i doubt it will be in his report seems as though nothing was given, so hopefully he will serve a ban.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 727 ✭✭✭Morpork

The free kick was given for the handball directly after, so I'm guessing the ref didn't see it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,917 ✭✭✭✭GT_TDI_150

We're poor enough again, not helped by the 2 enforced sub and the fact they kept 11 on the pitch...

Finding it hard to enjoy a game after an injustice like that, wonder how it affected our players

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,205 ✭✭✭Gringo180

Wigan fans applauding the thug off? Baffling, hopefully relegation beckons for them now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,019 ✭✭✭davycc

that was a horrific tackle i hope he is not too bad.

.as for mcmanamin the half time replay showed there was another newcastle player in the refs view..

as bad as a tackle it was it looked like a genuine accident imo.

i dont think he was trying to do the toon player in any way..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,161 ✭✭✭✭M5

I think the thug etc comments are Ott. No proof he lad wasn't just going for the ball

SissOko just running into trouble over and over again

Our players first touch and general control of the ball has been shambolic
