Ryan Taylor is strange. It's very rare that one player can be so good from set pieces yet absolutely awful in every other aspect of their game.

I'd agree with That Guy, if we have Pieters available for Sunday when we should play Raylor instead of Simpson, who is crap at everything.

I honestly think that we should sign a RB to give Simpson some competition and get rid of his deluded ambitions of playing for England.

You can guarantee Newcastle will be sure to get Pieters signed up in the next couple of hours to try and cushion the blow and calm the fans down.

If Enrique, Barton and Nolan were on 50,000 a week then collectively we've just saved seven million eight hundred thousand pounds.

Couple that with Carroll's fee - £35 million
    And Nolan's fee - £4 million
    And Routledge's fee - £2 million
    And Enrique's fee - £6 million

    So that's £47 million + £7.8 million = £54 million

That's not even taking into account Routledge's wages.

We've spent £5m on Cabaye and £3m on Obertan

So we should have £46 million left after that.

Taking agents fees into account for Abeid, Ba and Marveaux which should be about £2 million each I'd say. So that's £6 million.

We should have around £40 million left.

That's not taking into consideration the TV revenue or the fact that we should have a transfer kitty in place for this summer... Or were we reliant on the selling of Carroll in order to have a transfer kitty this summer?

    Where's the money?

£2 Million to Clarke for winning the Open.
Hunter's West Coast Capital (USC) Ltd, and in Cruise Clothing Ltd for £7 million.

    That leaves about £31 million

Lads, the money does not go directly to Ashley..

Not defending him or his transfer policy, but it is actually against the law for him to take that money out of the club.

Not when he's just recovering the money he loaned to the club.

    2 million on Abeid's agent's fee? I'd be suprised.

Just a rough estimate. If you were to believe the club, you'd think that the agents fees were around £5 - £8 million

If you were looking at Newcastle from a business point of view, you could argue that Ashley is asset stripping and wanting a buyer for the club.

Wor Joey gone. Another legend turfed out. BUT, this is eased slightly knowing that Shamrock Rovers have qualified for the group stage of the UEFA Cup and over the years have played in many, many European games... Can anyone think of a Premiership side who havent been in Europe!????

Shows how much joey really wanted to stay ... QPR?!?!

he's dragged newcastle into news headlines more often than I care to remember and never for good reasons.

He refused to take a paycut when he was sent down:mad:, his contract should just have been terminated then.

The man is scum, he is a trouble maker ... we are more than covered in midfield.

good ridance to a decent footballer with a rotten attitude towards life/'common' people

Maybe not a legend as such, but if theres a toon fan out there that didnt love him when he played for us then theyre a rare thing. He was unbelievably loved in the toon.

So he stays for us and see's out the year with no contract in the end? What happens if he gets injured?? Im not happy he left but as a player are you going to risk one season or sign a 4 year deal??

He took 2 paycuts in career for us and without doubt was the most passionate player on the pitch. He did owe us the dedication and i think he more than payed us off by being pivitol in keeping us up last season.

Good luck to our best player with a great attitued towards the toon. just hope he doesnt score against us!

So Fulham tomorrow, what do people think the line up is gonna look like?

I think it will be the below.

    Krul
    --Simpson
    Colo---Taylor
    Taylor---
    --Jonas
    Cabaye----Tiote---Marveaux-
    Obertan

    Ameobi

Subs: Harper, Perch, Ba, Ferguson, Lovenkrands, Gosling, Best

Would much prefer a line up like this though

    Krul
    --Simpson
    Colo---Taylor----Ferguson---
    --Jonas
    Cabaye----Tiote---Ameobi-
    Vuckic

    Ameobi

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,724 ✭✭✭kennyb3

I like your second team better but we still need ryan given we arent making chances from open play. Also might be bit much having sammy and vuckic in together (altho both look hugely promising). wouldnt mind seeing gosling playing behind ameobi

    Good old Ranger. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-tyne-14699338

He's utter poison. Just get rid please.

    ---

    Anyway, Fulham today.

Would like this line up myself. Was hoping Pieters would have signed by now tbh.
    Krul

    Simpson --- Colo --- S Taylor --- R Taylor

    Tiote

Jonas --- Cabaye --- Sammy Ameobi

    Obertan

    Ameobi

Defensively, I think we're sound enough, though Simpson is a bit suspect. If Pieters had signed I'd move Raylor to RB and stick Pieters in at LB. If we stick Jonas out on the right he could give good cover to Simpson.

Cabaye could be given a free role perhaps. He could perhaps join Obertan by sitting off the striker a bit and helping out Tiote in defence like he did against Sunderland last week in the second half.

We've got good pace in Sammy and Obertan and Jonas possess a bit too so if we can get at them down the flanks we could have a bit of joy.

I don't know where our goals are going to come from apart from set pieces because in open play we just don't look like scoring at all.

Would be great to get a win today, Fulham a bit of a bogey side for us in recent times so we owe them one. Hopefully they're still a bit tired from Europa League action on Thurs night in the Ukraine and being without Davies, Zamora, the two Riise brothers I'm expecting a win.

Newcastle United (4-4-2): Tim Krul; Danny Simpson, Steven Taylor, Fabricio Coloccini (c), Ryan Taylor; Gabriel Obertan, Yohan Cabaye, Cheik Tiote, Jonas Gutierrez; Leon Best, Peter Lovenkrands

Subs: Ole Soderberg, Shane Ferguson, Alan Smith, Haris Vuckic, Sylvain Marveaux, Sammy Ameobi, Demba Ba

Sick. Where the goals going to come from again???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,723 ✭✭✭bazual

Hate to say it but I think we are gonna get done today. I think possibly a 2 nil win for Fulham. The worst thing is if we win the game it gives Ashley no incentive to go out and buy players so its a catch 22 situation. I hope we win but I think Fulham want it more than us and have always played well against us.

Leon Best certainly has one in him for sure.

A win today and we'll have mad a historic start to the season.
Fulham will be dangerous too; but I reckon we can take them.

Yeah, no win against them in SJP for 3 years. No goals there like... Unless they kick Ba up and down Barrack rd and then put him on...

Sounds like will be full training at end of international break, probably too soon for the Wigan game but maybe the one after.

This is a depressing performance, Jonas is the only one getting on the ball. We have no one left to grab a game by the balls. Striker and a left back wont make any difference to that. Its gonna be a tough season.
