Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

First thing I want to see in January as well is a deal for Remy tied up.

It would be beyond infuriating if we let him slip through our fingers.

Think our win over Chelsea summed up the life of a Newcastle United fan to be honest.

All I can say is: Vurnon Anita.

Yup, he was tremendous when he came on. Did brilliantly for the second goal.

Tiote has been good lately though and Cabaye is an automatic pick and Sissoko had his best game in some time so where does he fit in..?

    Krul

    Debuchy --- MYM --- Willo --- Santon

    Anita

Ben Arfa --- Cabaye --- Tiote --- Gouffran

    Remy

Is what I'd play at the moment despite Sissoko's performance at the weekend.

    Maybe swap Tiote with Anita.

Pressing from newcastle is making this a very enjoyable game so far. deserved that goal so they did. Reckon there'll be a few more before this is done

Most amazing thing about the last 2 games is Williamson and Tiote have been some of our best performers.

    Who'd have thought that? :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,161 ✭✭✭✭M5

Have gotten our results completely wrong for the last 4 games. Battling performances against Liverpool and Spurs, coupled with a superb game against Chelsea have been a complete surprise, the Sunderland aberration looks even more surprising given the other results.

Credit where credit is due for the results and performances, that said, I feel we have had a fair rub of the green with the opposition hitting the woodwork in all 3 positive results, and Keanu Krul's heroics were critical aspects.

I don't think this tactic is a huge departure from what we have been doing for a year with no success. We are attempting to shut up shop after scoring. We are awful at it though. We let the opposition have WAY to many chances. The law of averages will return to bite us in the ar$e if we continue with it

In fairness it was away to a very good Spurs side, they were always gonna create chances(far too many for my liking granted) but it's not realistic to expect us to totally nullify them for 90 minutes.

We've been lucky enough granted but prior to that we had no luck at all. Swings and roundabouts.

Jaysus lads even the mackem thread is getting more activity lately :pac:

Guess we need to be doing ****e to get people talking :p

The tactic has cost us points on several occasions in the past. By all means attempt it against better sides, but implementing it at home, when playing sides in and around us is costing us points. Everyone knows about the dreaded HT team talk where we decide to sit back, it rarely works

Dont think we have turned any corners TBH...

Pardew is slightly in the red this season imo. The mackem result aside we are in a decent position.

The inconsistency is a serious issue but there are signs we aren't a bad side.

    Those weren't there last season.

What's worrying me is all the Remy talk going around at the moment. It would be utter madness(and not at all surprising) if there isn't a deal in place where we have first option on him.

I'd also like to see us bring Tom Ince to the club, maybe a deal with Gosling as a makeweight can be done.

What worries me is that we are a Remy injury away from disaster.

Arsenal are a Giroud injury away from having to play Bendtner :pac:

Nobody injured as far as I know. Might have some hangover French lads though.

Apperently Wenger was raving on about Cabaye so I imagine another bid will be coming in January.

No chance of him getting into that Arsenal midfield now..

Think we'd play Walcott or Podolski before Bendtner. Both are due back very shortly.

I think having Cabaye rather than Nasri made the World of difference to the French midfield. Such a dynamic performance. Not surprised Wenger was impressed
