Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Himself and Ba work a lot better anyway and we'll have more to aim for. Sammy's positioning needs a lot of work. Not getting himself into pivotal areas in the box.

Agreed, not sure why we didnt start that way, sammy is not a cf and not a link up player. Pards loosing the run of himself recently.

*maybe the fact Shola was playing in Miami on Wed

Our bench isn't packed full of game changers either.

the stat i quoted earlier is damming, no goals from set pieces. We are having to do things the hard way because simple things seem to be beyond us. Its depressing watching us. We never seem to commit enough players forward but regularly get caught short at the back

    yet another pathetic delivery

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

Much better from Sammy. Nobody busting a gut to get into the box. Shambles.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,161 ✭✭✭✭M5

Yeah, like i said we dont commit enough forward, so many crosses with no one in the box. I have been shouting about this for 7/8 games

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

Bigi might be a good option now.

Swansea's defending has been quality to be fair.

OUr delivery has been pathetic, easy to defend when the oppo play the ball right on your nut every time and your not even close to a NUFC player

Doocey, what were your positives for today.....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,161 ✭✭✭✭M5

    Game over, absolute shocker again

1 point in 3 games against decidedly average opposition.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,846 ✭✭✭Moneymaker

Laughable, two home defeats in a week to mediocre sides.

Not being knee jerk but these awful performances(been like this all season) cannot continue. Something is very wrong.

Everyone and their sister knew we needed defenders during the the summer. None came in and we're paying for it now.

dont forget blowing a great change at anfield to beat a poor Liverpool side

Some serious warning signs here, poor ball control, players going for the same ball, players rushing to get rid of the ball when in possession. All basic stuff that we seem incapable of doing

The Europa league is not a valid excuse for inability to complete the most basic of tasks

    We lost because _________

*insert your excuse in the blank line above. :pac:

Super pass from Ben Arfa, too little, too late

I hope they dont try to blame it on the Cisse situation. We didn't have the ball in the final third enough for him to even make an impace

I blame Danny Simpson. Sure he wasn't even on the pitch to defend the second goal. Terrible defending from him.

For once, there are very few, if any.
Sammy was decent I though - Ben Arfa quality, but just lacked a bit of spark in final end product.

Besides that, we were pathetic. Tioté very poor, Williamson the worst I've ever seen him.
Santon tried his best going forward, no fault there.

I actually missed the final two goals as me internet went, watched the score centre on BBC instead. My heart was in my mouth when the second goal went in, I though Benny had shown up with somthing special.

Veyr poor performance, but we'll be back :)

To add insult to injury, I had a anytime assist double of Tevez and Ben Arfa at about 10/1.

I heard Ben Arfa crossed to Marveaux who hit the fuckin' bar before Ba pounced? Absolute sickener.

Matter of time before HBA explodes into form though.

    HTL.

Cabaye apparantly out till january??This would be a disaster and Vernon Anita's performances don't bring any reassurance with that news.

Wouldn't give up on Anita though. He was an important player for Ajax, he's obviously got quality. Just going to need to be patient with him I think.

He is struggling physically, gets pushed off the ball far to easily... Happens regularly and ended up in a goal yesterday. While he may bee good in the future he is a weak link at the moment

Yeah exactly,we can't afford the luxury of easing him gently into the team like someone like Santon last year. I can see maybe Gutierrez playing in the cabaye role for the southampton game provided he's playing and perhaps Anita dropping back to right back.

1 goal scored by newcastle in our last 234 corners......

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,846 ✭✭✭Moneymaker

I remember Pardew stating our set pieces needed to improve. Clearly they have not.

I'm a bit of a pessimist!!, I know Newcastle have lost some first choice players through injury and suspension, but 0 points from home games against West Ham and Swansea is relegation form, Newcastle have had some lucky breaks with results earlier in the season, but at the moment I can't see where the improvement is going to come from. I think if we could field a full strength team each week we would finish in the top 10, but as soon as we lose a few key players we really struggle.

Please contradict me and tell me not to worry!!

In some encouraging news - Nile Ranger has scored for the reserves against Sunderland in the SOL.

Would be some comeback if Ranger and Xisco lead the line for us in the New Year :pac:
