Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Setanta Sports 1 are showing it.

It's been like this for a few years now. I think it's because Irish channels are showing the game simultaneously but that's not the case with Newcastle games unless Setanta Ireland are showing it.

I thought that there was already a few of the newcastle europa cup matches on tv this season. Is it just with ESPN?

Setanta Sports 1 are showing it.

So Setanta and ESPN are showing it but only Setanta show it in Ireland?
Well, as long as its on somewhere. Let's hope the refs in this match aren't involved in some betting syndicate again.....:p

Not sure how it works tbh, all I know is those two channels are showing it and it wont work on ESPN in Ireland.

Setanta Ireland are showing Spurs - Lyon and Chelsea - Sparta, Newcastle are on Setanta Sports 1, it's the next channel after Setanta Ireland on Sky but I don't have either.

So Pardew says he will be putting out a strong line-up on Thursday. I suppose it makes little sense busting your bollox to get into a tournament and not take it seriously. The team should be interesting, my guess would be:
    Krul

    Simp Colo Mbiwa Santon

    Anita Tiote

    Marv Sissoko Jonas

    Ameobi

Santon and Ben Arfa left behind. There was a team sheet somewhere on Twitter but far too lazy to find it at the moment.

Will probably go with Taylor at CB and move Mbiwa over so.

Possibly. We're 3/1 with Paddy Power to win the game which may not be a bad bet.

Definitely a good bet in my opinion. Two goals disallowed last week and played reasonably well. Team will only get stronger with every game that they play together.

3/1, is that over 90 minutes or win overall? Might have to stick a wedge on that

    90 mins lad.

You'd be a bit worried it'd sneak into extra time and then they'd pinch a winner....
Still looks like a good one to put something on. Best get round and visit PP at lunch

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,746 ✭✭✭TaosHum

I can understand the 3/1 tbh. They were quite good for the first hour and created some very good chances, even though that was their first competitive game in two months. On the other hand, they really tired in the last 20 minutes and looked to be just hanging on.

I think they will score tomorrow, whether Newcastle can stay with them will be the question.

Would it not be more 4-3-3 with Marveaux on left, Cisse right and Shola centre.. No striking options on the bench! Would have went with Obertan myself for his pace on the break.

Would have my gran on instead of Obertan, offers pace, granted but absolutely nothing else. Attitude stinks too

could well be gav sky didnt mention formation so i was having a stab at it, tho marv seems to do better in the middle of the park/just behind the striker

Ah yeah maybe even Gutierrez in instead, he's been playing a bit better recently. I think we all know that Cisse out wide isnt an option..

Back 4 could be a bit shakey tonight would have put Taylor in. Put out your best team and all.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,161 ✭✭✭BetterCallSaul

Nearly forgot we were on early. Strange line-up. Don't see us qualifying tonight, but not that bothered either way, cause a trip to Anzhi doesn't look too appealing and I doubt we would beat them over 2 legs.

Shola having a stormer so far

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,161 ✭✭✭✭M5

surprised sissoko didnt do better there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,161 ✭✭✭✭M5

FUk me, Metalist player has his arm around Ameobis throat and the ref gives a free out!!!

Cant remember a game with so many free kicks.

Sissoko having a mare, Cabaye and Shola playing well

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,161 ✭✭✭✭M5

Get the ball to Shola! Everything coming off for him!\

Looks like another poor finish by Cisse!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,161 ✭✭✭✭M5

    Half time

That will do. Started off really well, metalist well in it towards the end.

Ref is as fussy as i have seen! Two players make contact at all and its a FK

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,774 ✭✭✭cadete

should really have made more of that half we were way ahead for the first 30 odd minutes

Haidara has looked really good nice and solid some nice touches and seems comfortable on the ball
