Hi Donegal boards! Been trawling through internet for info to help us out for a couple of days.
Basically, we're having a non-driving male friend (50ish) from London for 8 days. We know he wants to go to Donegal. Between work commitments and animal owning duties - its very difficult for us to 'up sticks' for 2-3 days, and we're wondering what kind of tours are available around the county to give him a flavour of the place. Knowing him as I do - the Rosses and Glenveagh and coastal scenery would be his thing. We can drop him up from Mayo - even to Letterkenny, but overnight stays are out for us. I've found mangan tours, who seem to do daytrips from Letterkenny, but just wondered IF we're missing anything!
I've seen your guide Homer - very impressed. Some other time, when finances allow - we'll make it up there ourselves (in the motor) and make use of your handy guide. Meanwhile - if anyone knows of any 2 day tours, would appreciate any pointers.
    Thanks a million.
    Vera

One of our regulars, North_West_Art, would probably have a fair idea about the tours. He should be logged in within a day or two.

hi, you could try Donegal Coatal Tours in Donegal Town, I think its €25 for an extensive tour of the SW of the county..

    http://www.donegaltours.com/tour.htm

The Donegal Bay Waterbus is also well worth doing, it is approx 1.5 hours out and around Donegal Bay.. it visits a large seal colony as part of the trip.

    http://www.donegalbaywaterbus.com/?page_id=2

Donegal Castle is also in the town and there are guided tours all summer, (only 30 minutes)
    http://www.heritageireland.ie/en/north-west/donegalcastle/

I have a friend that gives guided tours of the south of the county, I can PM you more info if you are interested.

There is a shuttle bus that departs Donegal Town for Letterkenny a few times a day http://donegallink.donegalcoaches.ie/

You also have regular CIE buses to Letterkenny http://194.106.151.94/jplan/bin/query.exe/en?seqnr=2&ident=0p.010052187.1308481303&REQ0HafasScrollDir=1

Another option is Feda O'Donnell's Galway - Donegal bus.. it passes through Claremorris and Charlestown on route to Donegal Town, which might be handier for you. Feda O'Donnell's service will bring you right up to the North of the county (Dunfanaghy, Falcaragh, Gortahork.. you can get the ferry to Tory Island from here).. if you are visiting Tory, you wont need a car.
I think Arnold's Hotel in Dunfanaghy does Bicycle hire.

Hope this is of some help :)

    Is your friend driving?
    Apparently not :)

Thank you so much NWA - will have a look at those links later. Would possibly be interested in your friends details if you PM me. Right now - hoping to turn a meadow into a lawn while the rain holds off!;)
    Cheers!
