Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Yeah, we are looking scary good the last couple of games.
In fairness we also played pretty well against bournemouth.
We still seem a little light in defence hope we can get one or maybe two in still.

Barry Douglas new left back from leeds has signed up!
Tom Trybull also a midfielder has come in on loan from Norwich.
Aynsley Pears keeper from boro possibly coming in too.

We have had a really good transfer window you have to say on a very limited budget.
Kaminski (500k!) and Dolan (on a free) both look particularly excellent so far

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,322 ✭✭✭✭gmisk

    And another!
Harvey Elliott in from liverpool on loan meant to be a super talent but only 17!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,322 ✭✭✭✭gmisk

Aynsley Pears signed on as well! Busy last day

Lots of reasons for optimism, Dack coming back to full fitness will be like a new signing too.

Tough game today. Chris Hughton has a history of getting big performances out of teams immediately after he joins them.

Ugh, Forest score in the 91st minute. 1-0 to them.
I just had a bad feeling about this one.

I suppose hughton taking over has given them a lift but still.

First half was especially poor. Odd formation and lineup in midfield I thought for us as well

    Horrible deflection too.

From top scorers to firing blanks.

3-1 away defeat to Watford. We are sliding down the table, need to get back on track quickly.

I hear Harvey Elliott played 90mins and was one of Rovers best players in the game was that right?

Hope he gets a lot of minutes this year

Very confident on the ball and seemed to have integrated well already.
Rovers dominated possession early on and had some good chances - Watford got two sucker punch goals in.
Ben Foster made all the difference.

I'm back from my ban! Hopefully my return to the soccer forums can see us return to winning ways :D

Armstrong keeping his form with another two today.

    Elliot scores his first goal.

Our attacking options are looking great, Brereton looks good this season, he assisted Elliot and got fouled for the penalty.

We have been playing against ten men though since early on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,366 ✭✭✭✭8-10

    Elliot scores his first goal.

So the big question...will he follow through and shave off his top knot after his first goal? Or was that specifically his first Liverpool goal....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,322 ✭✭✭✭gmisk

Brereton had a good game! Nice to see.
Gallagher with a goal as well.

    Nightmare debut for Pears tonight,

    3-1 down after 18 minutes :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,424 ✭✭✭✭Rikand

Beaten 4-2 in the end. A brace for Armstrong

It's not going well at the minute.

0-0 against Middlesbrough after 25 minutes.
I'm just posting to let anybody that doesn't know that we are on sky sports tonight.

Another poor performance, injuries mounting up too. Not good.
    0-0 final score.

I just saw some clips...not great.
We had a lot of players out due to covid close contacts I think for last match?
Dack back in training which is good.

Clean sheet for new keeper is positive.
Kaminski has looked excellent but need a solid backup.

3-1 now for Rovers against QPR
    Armstrong with 2!
Ben Brereton with a goal as well!

Watched a good bit of it was a pretty good win. We played some lovely football at times.

How did Elliot play for ye?

He looked lively on the ball at times but didn't do anything too special today really. You can tell he is a classy operator though and has an eye for a pass. I was happy to see he isn't afraid of tracking back either.

If anyone is a subscriber to the athletic there is a really brilliant long read piece about Venkys and Blackburn rovers, it's a cracking read!

Looking like a solid win today against preston...3-0.
It helped we were a man up for the second half, great Brereton scored!

    Another win today I see!
2-1 win over barnsley, Armstrong (with yet another!) And Sam Gallagher (great to see) up to 9th now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,322 ✭✭✭✭gmisk

2-1 win tonight with a late winner from Armstrong!
Brereton off injured and didn't look good.
But we are now 4 points off top...with the best goal difference in the league.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,803 ✭✭✭irelandrover

Good run of form at the moment. Best in the league even over the last 5 games. Hopefully we can keep it up and make a real run at the playoffs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,424 ✭✭✭✭Rikand

Next 3 games are huge for our promotion aspects

Brentford and Bristol away with Norwich at home.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,322 ✭✭✭✭gmisk

    Battling 2-2 draw against brentford.
Brentford got a soft penalty and harsh red card for Lenihan, great point considering down to 10 men after 36 minutes

    Great result all things considered.

Lenihan was already on a yellow, but not sure how anyone could give that tussle as a straight red. Might be lucky and get it overturned.

    Frustrating defeat last night.

Plenty of chances, but no real clear cut ones. Struggled to create anything of note and got sucker punched.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,322 ✭✭✭✭gmisk

    A win!...armstrong in 98th minute! 2-1 against Rotherham
We will take it, after those last 2 losses

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,967 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Yeah we lost late in the last game and win late in this one. Badly needed win, we need to string a few together now to get ourselves back in contention for at least a playoff spot.

I think anything less than a playoff spot this season will be a big disappointment.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,803 ✭✭✭irelandrover

Good to get the win after a few losses. Great way to get a win with 2 late goals after going behind.

Another defeat tonight, the early promise has well and truly fizzled out.

Back to winning ways 2-0 win over Birmingham (Armstrong...who else! With the goal).
Brilliant to see Bradley Dack coming on and scoring the second!

  • Registered Users Posts: 416 ✭✭wrmwit

    The Dack is back :)

    Needed that win today.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,803 ✭✭✭irelandrover

Good to get the win to stay in the hunt for the play off.

Reports in the athletic today about premiership clubs in for Armstrong which would be a disaster

    I read that.
But he is under contract for another two years, plus that same article pointed out he has an amazing goal record under Tony Mowbray (both at Coventry and Blackburn) I doubt we will let him go at this stage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,295 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

Regarding Armstrong I think if a respectable offer came in it would prove too difficult for the club to turn down.

    Hopefully nothing will.

Great to see him continuing with goals in the new year, and great to see Dack back in attack providing something that we lack.

Important 1-0 win against boro today!
    Rothwell with the goal.

Seemingly horrendous first half but hey it's a win.

I much prefer winning games we probably didn't deserve to than losing ones we bossed.

Controlled the game after the goal and substitutes and probably should have scored again.

I only saw the second half but we played well. Could and should have had a few more.

The best thing about that game yesterday was seeing Bradley Dack looking like he is approaching the level he was at before the injury.
