Made pizza this evening and made the base from scratch from strong flour and yeast etc. Was my first attempt and was hoping it would be chewy like takeaway pizza but not really - any ideas how to get it to that lovely chewy consistency?

This is the recipe I use. It makes a fairly thick and chewy 12 inch base.

    300g Strong White flour.
    1/2 teaspoon yeast.
    170ml Water
    1 teaspoon salt.
    1 tablespoon Olive Oil.

most recipies are the same, tbh, the recipie isn't that big a factor but rather the method.
You have to knead it properly to get the right texture.

Also, flour for pizza needs to have a high protein content, this also helps with the chewness
