Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I liked Bruno, but the bald guy can go and jump. Same when he's in other shows.

He goes on to marry Charlotte in sex and the city and they dont even have any sex. He used to jack off to Porn mags but not be able to get it up for her.

    What a louser.

Sam: It seems to me, you're job is to wait for when Doug has left the room and say "What Doug meant was..."

Spun Out do a themed table quiz once a month to raise money. the last one I was at was a Game of Thrones one and they mentioned it, but they had said it was selling out fast at that stage. If this one is very popular they may do another one so many months down the line. Really looking forward to it.

Thats probably my favourite part ever.

I love how Toby is so on the ball he gets a zip code ready for him.

"Zip code, Fargo North Dakota, right now please". And whoever answers the phone knows to just do it and not ask why.

The president doing Charlie's tax returns!!! LOL

So I have just finished watching the end of season 3. I noticed something.
Someone tells Sam he is going to run for president someday and win.
I was thinking wouldn't it be great if they brought back the West Wing now! With Sam as president!!! That would be awesome! Sorry I am just fantasizing away here! I think it is because I know Sam is going to leave and I know it is going to be soon and I just don't want it to happen :(
The season finale when agent Donavan gets shot is just heartbreaking. But when the President goes to Richie
"When you said "Crime, um, I don't know"? Yeah, that's when I decided to kick your ass!"
    Brilliant!
Now I am debating whether or not to get straight into season 4 or to try get some sleep!

Sam is definitely one of my favourites just not the same without him only on second episode now. One thing I picked up in the first episode was when Sam was at Lauries she mentioned potus. Being a law student I would of thought she should of known what potus stands for.

Well she had read it on Sams pager so maybe it depends how it was written. She'd be used to seeing it as POTUS, but the pager text might have said "Potus in a bicycle accident", which made her think it was someones name. Plus it wouldnt cross your mind that the guy you just slept with works for the president. Plus she was sort of wasted at the time.

The bigger plot hole for me is the sequence of events around that. Sam has a late night drink and goes back to Lauries house. He gets paged at 5am or so to go to the office because potus was in a bicycle accident. Unless he was cycling at 3am?

Also, why did they page Sam to begin with? CJ made a press statement, the press laughed, end of.

It is rare for me to poke holes in my favourite TV program, but it does happen from time to time.

C.j: Josh there's an article in the new yorker I want you to read.
    Josh : what's it about?
    C.j: smallpox
    josh: the disease?
C.j: no the desert topping Josh yes, the disease.

    Pissed my hole laughing :D

CJ is my hero!!! There is an exchange between here the others where she equates the situation to One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Priceless. Can't remember exactly which episode. But I think she has some of the best lines!

    Ah, LemonLyman.com! :D

The episode was The US Poet Laureate.

C.J: Let me explain something to you, this is sort of my field. The people on these sites? They're the cast of One Flew Over the Cookoo's Nest. The muumuu wearing Parliament smoker? That's Nurse Ratched. When Nurse Ratched's unhappy, the patients are unhappy. You? You're McMurphy. You swoop in there with your card games and your fishing trips...

Josh: I didn't swoop in! I came in exactly the same way everybody else did!

CJ: Well, now I'm telling you to open the ward room window and climb on out before they give you a pre-frontal lobotomy and I have to smother you with a pillow.

re-watching for about the 10th time- it's my comfort food when I need something cosy to watch - I would SO clean up at that table quiz - a guy did it as his specialist subject a few years ago on Mastermind - he got 15, I got 16 - my mother was appalled

watching Season 2 - Ep 4 - Ainsley's first appearance - I did enjoy her, I didn't enjoy Mandy or the wan that Josh was going with, whose name escapes me now but had legs all the way to the floor, my friend...........

Amy Gardner - I couldn't really warm to her either. It seemed to me like she was always flirting, even with the First Lady!
I liked Ainsley much more the second time round!
Mandy was just a pain in the face.

Im more than half way through season 4, and to me, President Bartlet is getting more and more grouchy. He snaps at people, he is very smart-arsed in the briefings, especially the military ones. Is he trying to draw attention away from the fact that the MS is getting worse?

The speech in 'The Mid-Terms' is brilliant, a perfect riposte to Bible-bashers!

President Josiah Bartlet: Good. I like your show. I like how you call homosexuality an abomination.

Dr. Jenna Jacobs: I don't say homosexuality is an abomination, Mr. President. The Bible does.

President Josiah Bartlet: Yes, it does. Leviticus.

    Dr. Jenna Jacobs: 18:22.

President Josiah Bartlet: Chapter and verse. I wanted to ask you a couple of questions while I had you here. I'm interested in selling my youngest daughter into slavery as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. She's a Georgetown sophomore, speaks fluent Italian, always cleared the table when it was her turn. What would a good price for her be? While thinking about that, can I ask another? My Chief of Staff Leo McGarry insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly says he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself, or is it okay to call the police? Here's one that's really important 'cause we've got a lot of sports fans in this town: Touching the skin of a dead pig makes one unclean. Leviticus 11:7. If they promise to wear gloves, can the Washington Redskins still play football? Can Notre Dame? Can West Point? Does the whole town really have to be together to stone my brother John for planting different crops side by side? Can I burn my mother in a small family gathering for wearing garments made from two different threads? Think about those questions, would you? One last thing: While you may be mistaking this for your monthly meeting of the Ignorant Tight-Ass Club, in this building, when the President stands, nobody sits.

The opening of the debate with James Brolin (Governor Ritchie) is a close second.....

'my question is, can we have it back please?'..............brilliant :-)

Then there was the 'ten word answer' in that debate.......

Hoynes: You know what Leo Im getting kind of tired of you and your PAL!
Leo: Are you referring to the President of the United States as my pal?
    <Hoynes nods>
Leo: Refer to him that way!

Possibly my favourite exchange from the WW....

Sam Seaborn: About a week ago I accidentally slept with a prostitute.
    Toby Ziegler: [pause] Really?
    Sam Seaborn: Yes.
Toby Ziegler: You accidentally slept with a prostitute?
    Sam Seaborn: A call girl.
    Toby Ziegler: Accidentally?
    Sam Seaborn: Yes.
Toby Ziegler: I don't understand. Did you trip over something?

The episode of The Good Wife that aired last night (in the US) was a complete West-Wing-fest. I won't give details for fear of spoiling it for anyone, but three WW actors feature and they reference the show itself in a pretty funny way.

Oh, and this is my favourite funny bit from the show, when the president overdoes the painkillers. He's seriously thinking about getting a dog:

It was a series I missed first time around, but I'm catching up with it at the moment on Netflix.
I'm about 5 episodes into Series 2 and enjoying it.

It's real 'Sunday evening' tv - when you don't want anything too in your face.

Quick question - is it a Series that maintains a high quality right to the end, or is it one of those shows where there's a significant drop-off in quality after a particular season?

Rather than a significant drop off in quality, I would say it tapers downhill. A bad episode of the west wing is better than a good day of many other shows. I'd say it peaks in Season 4 so you have lots of good stuff still to watch.

Pretty much what Syklops said - second half of Season 4, Season 5 and a good chunk of 6 were 'different' but still watchable.

Season 7 I just thought it was getting its 'game' back when it was cancelled - a real pity because it seemed the writers had hit on a rich seam they could've mined for another couple of seasons at least.

The biggest obstacle for the writers was the passing of John Spencer. He had some of his best episodes in season 7 which means he went out on a high note at least.

This is only my second time going through it. People had said to me the first time round that it dips after season 4 but I didn't think so. I would love for them to revive it now, with Sam going for president! Wishful thinking I suppose, but I'm. Dying to know what happened to them all after the Bartlet administration.

You don't remember the flash forward scene?

Edit: Rumours that hit the internet yesterday of a reboot seem to be false

I think when Sorkin left they found it difficult to do serious stories in an 'entertaining' way, which is why there is a certain 'heaviness' about late season 4, season 5 and season 6 episodes.

I want to be careful in case anyone reading this hasn't got to the end, but with Bartlett finishing out his second term and being replaced there was probably a good opportunity to do a refresh......

.......if only they'd hung for one more season :(

Epic John Spencer scene - when Josh mis-reads his body language and goes to give him a hug!!

Also the 'bickering' between him and Sheen was well pitched.

Far as I recall, in hearing him explaining it, he sensed a changed in the show and that was a bit of a way out for him.
