Hi, Im heading to NZ for a few days in august and hiring a camper, is it necessary to book your campsites before you go or is a few days b4 ok? cheers

You should be fine booking a few days before in August.

More than likely OK just turning up in August. I never booked any site except for the first night when I did three weeks around both islands during August/ September a couple of years ago.
