Xbox disc reading problem

When I try to play Fifa 11 or GTA IV, it says 'reading disc' and then after a while it says 'open tray'. Sometimes it comes up 'play DVD' instead of open tray. After about 5/10 minutes of opening and closing the tray it will eventually play.
Any ideas? Help would be much appreciated.

did you try a lens cleaning cd

Would any one of them do or is there one specifically for xbox?

Ok.

You want to clear the system cache.
If that doesnt work try it without the HDD.
If that doesnt work call Xbox Support.

Done all that except the last bit. I'll try to clean the lens first and see how that goes.

my guess is that there is dust/dirt n the lens happened me before and a quick run of the lens cleaner sorted it out.

While you have the drive open try adjusting the laser pots, this adjusts the resistance of the laser which wear out over time which is the reason why your having the Open Tray issue. Try the link below
