    Only 2nd venture out over the mile trip, previous excursion was........

    04Feb10 Mey 8St Hc 40K 9-0 2/14 (4¼L Al Arab 9-2) 7/2 Ted Durcan 98
    2nd off 98 to a rival rated 100 in a 90 to 105, beating horses rated 102, 104, 105. Importantly, that was after 5 months off the track :)

    Today's race is it's first appearance in almost 12 months.

    As well as going well fresh and the mile being suitable there is also the ground, lto over 7f it finished 5th of 28 in the TOTESPORT.COM CHALLENGE CUP (HERITAGE HANDICAP), (horses rated up to 105 in that) on good to soft, favourably in my view is the point that stayed on well at the finish after having trouble in running.

    Looks to have a lot going for it here :)

    I reckon this lad is overpriced, in the place market even, stays 2m, goes on GS, might well be a pound or two too high in the weights but off topweight in this has a decent chance.

    I backed this lad back in June when it won well over today's trip, not great last time out but that was over 12f when 15/8 fav, 10f seems the trip for this one. Now HC wise it's up 6lbs from that June win, it was raised 7lbs but lost one after the 12f attempt, so we're lb better off than if it hadn't tried the 12f, in fairness the 12f was just too long I think so the mark of 101 is quite a fair one.

    Proven at the trip on GS and soft, the good ground here may well bring improvment, it's nowhere near too firm anyway I would think. 2nd highest of those with ratings.

    Regardless of the rest this is a very short price, in the favour of the lay logic though three or four of the rest have also shown that they are not bad at the longer trips so it's far from a formality for the fav to place here.

    Nice yoke here I think in this 0-65 8f HC on GF, last run on such conditions resulted in a win in a 0-70 at Brighton last September. Since then the 10f races have highlighted that 8f suits and the AW races have shown the horses clear preference for turf, all 6 wins have been on turf (from 38 turf outings), no wins on the AW from 22 outings.

    Place price is too skimpy so no thanks to that.
