Hi all just looking for decorating advice from you.
House is 15 yrs old and have just had that "wake up" moment when you look around and suddenly see all thats needs to be changed.
What I need firstly is to liven up my hall.
It is all pine - was lovely at the time etc but urgently needs to be changed.
Stairs is pine - no funds to change that but everything else (doors, skirting, architrave????) could be painted or changed.

Any suggestions of where to start, what to do - particularly with floor

Am hoping to bring it up to modern day fashion ????

White oak (light oak) for doors and flooring, and then just paint the skirting with eggshell.

Not as glossy as normal wood gloss and also doesnt not fade or go yellow colour over time.

    Hiya,
You could strip back the varnish on the stairs, paint the spindles and risers in a off white eggshell and then stain the handrail and steps in a walnut or dark oak stain. Paint the doors, skirting and architrave in the same white and then get a good laminate or semi solid wood flooring to match with the stain you have used on the stairs. Finally get a runner made for the stairs ( most carpet shops will do this for you) and use same on the landing in a colour that will go with the overall scheme of the house.
Another inexpensive item you could add are radiator covers which again you can either paint in the eggshell or stain to match the stairs.
Its a lot of work but the overall cost should be quite manageable. Loads of decorators advertise in local papers so you could get a few out to give you quotes if you don't fancy taking on the work yourself.

Hi OP, you could be describing my hall! lol
I had considered changes too and had visualised all that Pnky123 has suggested.
So there you have 2 opinions on a similar style!
    Good luck with it!
