    Hi Lads

I have 2.5k budget for a new PC not really a gamer maybe the odd time. Used for storage and web browsing and music. Impress me with your ideas. Must have a 27inch screen as used to it.

    Thanks
    TCP/IP

I wouldn't be able to spend that much on a computer :P An i5-2500k, 6950, 128GB SSD, and 27' Monitor still only comes to €1250

You could buy the U2711 which is a nice IPS for €625 from komplett.ie

... or three in eyefinity :D  :pac:

Yeah, but I hate to think of that being wasted on Freecell or something :P

Yeah deffo sounds like your budget it a little high for what you want. Like deconduo suggested you will get a great rig for half that :)

Just over a grand will buy you a super mega PC

    These guys are no Fun!

This is what I have come up with. Comes to a grand total of Eur2470 - give or take a few euro. Now I know the monitor takes up alot of the total but if you've got the money!

As the guys say you probably don't "need" to spend this kind of money but..............

And dam was having so much fun I forgot the basics of a dvd drive and memory and a cooler. Wups

That's probably why your budget is outa whack, PC's are a lot cheaper than macs. 1.5k is about the maximum I would consider spending on a home PC , which will get you a PC faster than a 2.5k mac pro. The only purpose for such a beast is for serious gaming or heavy duty computation which precludes storage and web browsing.

While interesting to spend the money(you could go quite mental), for what you actually want it to do the cheapest bog spec pc currently being sold can fulfill the role with horsepower to spare.

    Sad but true.

I was specing up one for myself recently. I was looking at C32 AMD mobo with two six core 4180 procs and 32 gigs of ram. Then a pci-express enterprise raid controller with four SSD's and four 2tb drives. I already have the case and psu etc. Decided to get a car instead.

I would have trouble spending that on a pc rofl. Buy an awesome pc now for thalf the money, and another awesome one a while later with the other half

Are there any specific requirements? Like when you mention storage, are you talking about a lot of storage - do you want something like RAID 10 for speed and redundancy?

Do you want a quiet PC?

Do you want an efficient PC?

Do you want a cool looking PC?

Do you want one which has more power than you'll ever need?

    Watercooling?

    163816.png

    Awesome case
Quiet, quite powerful GPU capable of supporting the high resolution monitor
    2600K, fast with hyper-threading
    Blu ray burner
    Fast SSD
    Platinum efficiency PSU
Nice monitor (cheaper on komplett and with free delivery)
Two 2TB green drives for storage... RAID 1?
    Win 7 Ultimate x64.

    That said, I would recommend
    • Saving the money and get a 2500K, the 2600K is not really worth it unless you have programs which can avail of the HT.
    • Cheaper case - fractal design R3 is a nice quiet one, but the colossus is up to date with USB 3 and all.
    • Get the 128GB M4 SSD
    • Get Win 7 Pro or even home.

Those BitFenix cases look unusual but they aren't supposed to actually be much cop at being a case :o:p

yea and if you're willing to spend that kind of money on a case it has to be the corsair graphite 600T

When you get to that much money, you are no longer worried about practicalities, it's about showing off.

For what you need i think a budget of 2.5k is overkill. You honestly wíll not notice the difference between a 1k pc and a 2.5k pc for what your needs are. Why not go for the 1k build a few posts in and spend the rest on a nice holiday or just save it. I'd bet you could get dual 27's and a good spec for under 1k.

Cheers Ryan money not really an issue. Also cheers for confirming to me this morning that it had all shipped.

Is a 27" monitor enough? The U2410 is a good monitor but since you have a large budget maybe 30" such as the U3011 & 3008WFP?

    few issues with that:

not sure any aftermarket cooler will fit over the ram you chose, as they have MASSIVE heat fins themselves.

probably should have got the GTX 580 3gb version, as it would have helped alot at those ultra high resolutions.

case was a fairly poor choice. you could get more updated cases for less, that look better. USB3 front headers anyone?
and you should have got a high end z68 motherboard.

otherwise, im sure it'll be a beast of a rig.
post pics of the build when you do it!

The 3gb card is nearly €700 bit much I thought. Yeah was not sure on the case can you recommend one if you had a min. I don't mind buying another. Thx

Lian Li make great cases. usb3 ports at the back anyways.

something is wrong if its coming up as €700. what website are you buying from? i had assumed it was HWVS because scan doesnt have that SSD.

seems to be out of stock but:
    http://www3.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=47248&agid=1670

my favorite case case at the moment has to be the corsair graphite 600T:

you can get a side pannel or window directly from corsair too for $30 apparently.

otherwise, Cooler Master Cosmos S, or HafX, fractual define R3 or the bigger brother that i cant remember the name of.

dont get me wrong, Lian Li make good cases, but youre paying big for the name..
