Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Lost email on desktop

    Hi,
Computer dummy here. Kinda know what need to know and that's about it, so go easy..

Wife tried to install Office on laptop (she knows less than me:D), no joy but the outcome now is that my eircom.net email homepage, which I used to be able to access from desktop icon, is now gone:mad:.

Managed to reinstall Office but now to get my email, I must go through the long process of logging into eircom.net homepage etc. Used to be redirected automatically to desktop, much easier/quicker naturally.

How do I get this back my email to desktop. "Cannot start Microsoft Outlook" is the error message. Using Windows Vista on Dell Laptop if any use.

Will all my emails be lost, as there were some I really needed in it?

    Any help welcome.:o

Before your wife tried installing office what did you use to get your e-mails? I am assuming that you used Microsoft Outlook.

If you did and it's not working now, best way to deal with it is re-install Office again and it should fix what ever problem there is.

As far as losing e-mails, if you can see them when you login to your eircom.net account online, then they are not lost. If they are not in your account, there is a good chance when you setup outlook again that they won't download. But it is possible they are still sitting somewhere on your computers filesystem so they could possibly be retrieved if they don't appear in outlook.

    Thanks for reply.
I somehow:confused: managed to get it all back. I had reinstalled Office but it was still gone. No emails on eircom login site either. So pressed some default tab, somewhere, under some option and somehow, God only knows how, but it all came back as good as new. I would like to think I could repeat the process to help others but, between you and me, there's not a bloody hope....:D
I warned you at the start computer idiot:o
    Thanks for reply anyway

To back up outlook emails you need to do a search in all files and folders including hidden and systems files for "*.pst". These are your personal email database files used by outlook to store downloaded mails
