    Hi guy's

I would like to make a balance bike for my little fella.
It would be a fairly simple afair a simple teardrop shaped frame ( one piece or maybe two identical pieces sandwiched together ) with forks cut at 90 degrees if that makes sense and a pin through the top of the frame to make it articulated. ( I doubt any of that makes sense ) pic attached.
Anyway - rather than doing it in mdf as I make everything else I'd like to make it in something a little better quality.

Can anyone suggest what wood I would make it from and where I would get it ?

Also any ideas where I would get the wheels ?

    Balance Bike twin frame desing

    Another balance bike

    Thanks for your help.

Ash might be the best timber to use. It's a great shock absorber - that's why it was used in the construction of Morgan cars. It is not a durable timber though, so the bike would have to be kept indoors when not being used.

For the wheels, you would probably get them in a specialist BMX/skateboard shop like Wreckless or the Boardroom. You'd probably get other parts like bearings there too.
