Nice & Nasty return with Layo & Bushwacka! at The Turks Head, Sat 25 June (This Weekend).

Catch Solab live this Friday on Barry Redsetta's Filter show on Spin 1038FM. Layo & Bushwacka rocked Arveene's Transmit show on Spin last Saturday and today Desy and Matt Bushwacka spoke to Aoife Nic Canna on NEAR FM - BUT CATCH THEM ALL LIVE AND EXCLUISVE AT THE TURKS HEAD THIS WEEKEND. tickets from www.tickets.ie

Layo and Bushwacka! need no introduction. Globe trotting DJs and chart topping producers says it all really, however, one thing their success neglects is the fact that they make sweet, uncompromising techno and together as DJs are deservedly in the Top 10-20 or thereabouts of the worlds best DJs in DJ mag, Resident Advisor etc each year.

Without fear of contradiction it can be said that, Layo & Bushwacka! are one of electronic music’s most esteemed duos. Comprising of Matthew ‘Bushwacka’ B, a percussionist in the London School Symphony Orchestra who was converted into a member of the infamous Rat Pack after a warehouse party in ’88, and Layo Paskin, a North Londoner immersed in the acid house scene who met Mr C at one of the legendary Clink Street parties in 1988, before together setting up their world renowned night club, The End. It was via their mutual friend Mr C that Layo & Bushwacka! first met, whilst Matthew was working at his studio, and by the mid 90s the two had started writing music together. Over a decade later, the partnership has yielded three artist albums, three mix albums, internationally renowned club residencies and a superb record label.

Layo & Bushwacka!’s reputation as two of the world’s foremost DJ duos is rock solid. Three artist albums have proven them remarkably talented producers, capable of mixing styles, tempos and genres to create enduring and engaging electronic music. Their trio of mix albums and international club residencies have shown they are masters of the turntables, sonic connoisseurs who can guide a dance floor on an epic journey through the many facets of their sound. Their label Olmeto meanwhile has become a bastion for quality, a label that, much like its figureheads, has become a rubber stamped seal of class.

The duo are no strangers to Ireland previously playing the redBox, The Pod, The Academy, The Kitchen, Shine, Belfast and various world class Irish and International festivals. Matthew Bushwacka B is also no stranger to Nice & Nasty, remixing Yellow Pencil for them in 1994 and playing for Nice & Nasty at the Network, Belfast and Charlie Heggartys, Bangor. The last Nice & Nasty and Layo & Bushwacka collaboration was the Slick DJ awards a few years back and the sold out show to Ireland elite group of DJs, Promoters, and Producers simply reinforces their abilities and status.

The intimate venue will provide a whole new deeper, emotional journey for the clubber. Layo & Bushwacka! will be supported by Jay Riordan, Brian Taaffe and Desy Balmer. There is a pre-club lounge line up featuring the Chillage Idiots and more gusts and a live act to be announced. Tickets will go on sale soon via www.tickets.ie

    Ross McMillan aka Solab Live

Ross McMillan is the latest in a long and distinguished line of techno talent to emerge from Glasgow and its surrounding areas. Following in the footsteps of the legendary Slam, Percy X aka Edit Select, Vince Watson, Harri, Twitch & Brainstorm, Ross is part of the latest techno wave that includes Marco Bernardi, Alex Smoke, Harvey McKay and Jack Revill. From the early days of 23rd precinct, Soma and the hardcore boys, Glasgow has had a very healthy scene epitomized by Rub-a-Dub records and the continued dominance of Soma/Slam and the frequent emergence of new, exciting talent like Ross.

Ross has been producing music for a long time. He is a vinyl freak and only occasionally releases on digital, usually with other labels. Ross records as Solab with Grahama Wilson; Solab have released with Sula Muse, Life World, 4 Lux Black and Seventh Sign. As Solab they have remixed The Parallel, Franco Cangelli and Itokim.

“I Love using my old machines and synths to make spaced out music” claims Ross who aaway from his Solab work creates music as Carlos Nilmmns on a few cool labels which release the likes Johannes Volk, Alex Agore, Moodymann, Seth Troxler, Gerd, YouANDme, Terrence Parker, Marcellus Pittman, Santiago Salazar and many more.

Ross currently works at 7th Sign Recordings and has music upcoming on 4lux, Lifeworld, Ornaments, the mighty Science label in Beijing, and Nice & Nasty.
