Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi all,

I'm doing some research on the topic of Business Valuation, specifically the valuation of unquoted shares or privately owned businesses and am looking for significant cases, precedents or rulings which relate to same in particular rulings which define the appropriate standard of value to be used (Fair Market Value, Fair Value etc), definitions of the various standards of value, guidance on best practice to be used and the use of discounts for marketability, lack of control etc.

I've searched on http://www.bailii.org and looked in reference books like "The Commercial Court" by Stephen Dowling without success.

Would really appreciate any suggestions or feedback from this group.

    Regards,

    Ben

Have you looked at "Valuation of Shares in Unlisted Companies" published by the Irish Taxation Institute?

The last edition was published in 2005, but I still find it essential when doing valuation work.

    Just ordered it Nompere, thanks.

Does it contain much in the way of Irish case law / precedent guidance on what the court wants to see in relation to business valuation?
