Managed to get one coat of Collinits 845 on top of it today.. Not looking too shabby now.. Promise I will get pics tomorrow as I am off out on the Pi$$ tonight :pac:

I was sorta thinking that, Although I was unsure as there was a bit of cloud cover on the reflection of the car, in your beading pics.

    Beadophiles - phenomenal Sean :D

Here's one of my bootlid from during the week for the other BBB's (biblical beading beadophiles):

    photo1gtf.jpg

...and that's just after being properly waxed about a month ago and a wet wax last saturday. Yesterday I gave it a coat of blacklight followed by a coat of Meg's NXT and the beading I got last night would have me in jail :pac:

    OK
Got a couple of shots there of a bit of beading.
Very difficult to get a good shot of this on a white car but you get the idea anyhow.

Washed the car with Conzymaher yesterday and my god it's a lot easier when it's properly waxed!

Gave it a coat of EGP on the bonnet as well just as a test, tis sexual sealant.

And then these arrived today :D

    2x Meyle HD Wishbones
    2x Meyle HD Droplinks
    2x Lemforder top mounts

And should be picking up a CF CSL bootlid during the week :D

Done Yesterday...finally what annoyed me most about the car has been corrected! Wasn't feeling it too much so it was an 85% improvment...but only some small corrections left.

Here is a picture of it (Before I sone the side panels)

It may have been asked before, but I'll ask anyway ...

Did one of the previous owners wash it using a brillo pad or what? Just stunned at the amount of fine scratches you've had to buff out, and the directions of them would suggest it wasn't a brush wash thats to blame.

I'm guessing a sponge with some sharp grit??? Who knows

All was revealed when I washed the car after getting it...car was priced to sell due to the condition it was in thankfully nothing major as off yet.

It's a great feeling to be finished a job like that :D

Do you have the problem of water dripping through the vents and onto the altenator?

    Not finished...close though :)

Not yet :o although I was looking into this a while ago and making up ... a plastic container under the cover with a drainage tube seems to be the bodge fix that works well..must get around to doing this now that you mention it.:P

Replaced the fan-belt on the Shed after the engine decided to snack on it on Saturday. €12 & 10 mins = job done.

Still somewhat baffled that someone would fit a brand new alternator, yet leave the (presumably original) tired & frayed belt fitted.

I couldn't buy a French car after my Mam's Megane, everything electrical that could go wrong just kept going wrong!
For some reason, my Dad bought it after she traded it in, only now it's going fine.

Ya was looking that up just last night, it's meant to last for ages... Must try some. Do you guys know if certain waxes suit certain colours better?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,930 ✭✭✭✭challengemaster

    Yeah they do.

I'm going to quote Curran's post from BMW-Driver to save me writing the same thing a different way :D
    Curran wrote:
Waxes tend to add a deep, warm shine. Some waxes are charged with additives to make certain colours "pop" even more. For example Dodo Juice Orange Crush (on red, orange) or Purple Haze (on deep blues and purples) give the paintwork an added boost.

Sealants tend to offer a sharp, glossy, shiney look, but lack depth. Its impossible to get the depth in white or silver, that you can with a polished up red or black for example, so the sharp look suits them better!

Clicky - this link gives a bit more info and explains it better than I could! :)

As always, prepartation is the key....so if prep'd well, HD Wax or EGP will look great too....as would white with a wax, but sealants just give it that little bit extra.
