Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Time for a bit of time on my much neglected van....
    Image2662_zpsbf96b79d.jpg

    The interior was annoying me!
    Image2663_zps05405d43.jpg

    Thank feck for leather!
    Image2664_zpsc0dc4570.jpg

There's a piece of trim missing under the scuttle panel I never bothered putting in.... Hence why I see pools in the footwell now and again  I've bodgefied a 406 fusebox cover in there for now :)
    Image2665_zpsbca7a0d7.jpg

There was no power going to the pump. I'll change the pump so!
    Image2666_zps6c8a0cad.jpg

    A bit of wrigglin'....
    Image2667_zps0386507d.jpg

This one works, which is significantly older than the one I took out!
    Image2668_zpsbd2fe500.jpg

Put it in with the rubber ring on the pump not the tank or it will never go in :pac:

If one forgets to put the ring in, turn the pump and it will slide right in there
    Image2669_zps3bc50625.jpg

And that didn't solve that, still refused to pump! Think I'll run a separate switched feed to it in due time :)

Oh and cleaned the 406 :D
    Image2670_zps9f090c22.jpg

    It shines up well

Had an enjoyable day today. Put on two new wishbones, (with new rubbers and balljoints), and replaced the front pads too.

1st of all lubed everything up

    2013-02-16-710_zps15745002.jpg

then the ball joint nut decided it wouldn't go any higher than this and started spinning the ball joint too. See the massive room around the balljoint nut!!

    2013-02-16-713_zpsdf222f1a.jpg

so took a hacksaw to it

    2013-02-16-722_zpsbd2ce54c.jpg
    2013-02-16-721_zpsa574ee1a.jpg

The balljoint itsself was a ba$tard to get out but it came eventually

    Old verses new

    2013-02-16-723_zps9a198cca.jpg

    New one on

    2013-02-16-725_zpsc1e79656.jpg

Same the other side but the ba$stard of a balljoint nut wouldn't even open so ended up rounding the nut so had to hacksaw through the nut and bolt that side!

    2013-02-16-727_zps0d2b9cc2.jpg
    2013-02-16-734_zps3edaf037.jpg

Then decided to do the pads as the ones on it were a bit worn

    2013-02-16-738_zps2edcdeb5.jpg

All new and shiny (same the other side!)

    2013-02-16-740_zps8b4f002c.jpg

These were the first items to be replaced on the car. Its a '98 and everything up till today was original so was good going for the pads!

    Pretty clean under here

    2013-02-16-712_zps7e4a5b3d.jpg

Oh and for RoverJames.....it was a gorgeous day here!

I fixed the boot lock on my car using my mind! :pac: Either that or it decided to fix itself. :D

It wouldn't lock with the rest of the doors so I had to do it manually with the key. Roll on today... I heard the clunk from the back when I locked it with the fob, and when I checked several times it seems fine now. Thank fck! I didn't fancy trying to fix it.

In other news I washed the car, and started work on tidying up the exterior paint & plastic. Will do some more this week that may be worthy of pictures.

    2.5" standard on it.
No point in going 3" unless donig de-cat and 3" downpipe.

OE exhaust from dealer was €270

Souhans for S/Steel and performance back box with s/Steel tip fitted for same price.. Real neat job as well.

It takes a bit of effort to make a clean install, antennas fully hidden, hook properly into existing radio harness etc.

I charge 190 for a supplied and fitted system in a car that has an aftermarket double din screen like on mine with the unit on the front.

For cars with OEM satnav it is more complex as often modules are in the boot and you need to have converters plugged into the OEM system to provide actual RCA input plugs. Plus the remote control sensor needs to be extended from the boot to the dash, which is quiet involved as you can imagine (trim + carpet removal).

For a BMW e39, e46, e38, e53 equipped with satnav and analog TV from factory (or retrofitted), I charge 280 supplied and fitted and TV in motion enabled, for example.

Other modern cars with MOST interface (fibre optic) it can get pricey pretty quickly, unless you hook this up directly on the back of the OEM screen, which is not always possible (or straight forward).

Spare toner for extra soot FTW!!!!!

I used to use a 38a in the other car, the 42a is slightly bigger! It houses my x amount of bits tool set, meguairs brush, spare diesel filter and.... Other stuff :pac:

I'm too cheap to buy a plastic box from lidl :P

And you can't go wrong with those printers! You can tell it to ignore the chip on the cartridge and it keeps printing away forever.
I used to run 2000 page print tests on 4200 and 4250's, that is per sample of toner and there where at least 5 samples per production run. There would be a production run every 2-3 weeks. That was when I was in the knock-off toner business. The bad old days.
I must have put 20k pages on one cartridge alone.
I have seen other printers, mostly Brother and Lexmark and we had a few Samsungs and whilst your page per gram (printer equivalent of mpg:D) is lousy on HP's (think of them of 1960's American V8 muscle cars compared to a modern car), they never break down, never give you hassle chipwise (as with cars, older ones will be less complicated and prone to failure) last forever and will print page volumes (like over the life of the printer) that other printers can only dream about.
Only Kyoceras come close. And I didn't like their print quality too much on some of them.
And I just realise that I'm on a car forum, but I've written it now, so there!;)

I took apart the whole dashboard and centre console over the weekend in an attempt to find and put an end to the weird creaking noise that's been hiding under there for the past few months.

Drove in today.... not a whisper from it. *yet*

Oh god i hope it stays away. A creak in the dashbopard is so bloody annoying!

Hoovered, decluttered and generally cleaned my interior and then had a look at the speakers again.
The original back speakers are now working again, that means I'm only down to one broken original speaker! :D

Must have a look about getting those door cards off and sorting that last one.

I picked up this over Christmas so though I'd see if its any good..

The good headlight, which is actually the vans original light.

    2013-02-20172640_zpsa35969fa.jpg

And the dull/yellowed one(which is not original, must have been replaced with a second hand one from an older Astra) It actually doesn't look as bad in the pics.

    2013-02-20172702_zpsadaab346.jpg

    A bit of elbo grease:

    2013-02-20173536_zps96b5ee6e.jpg

And it works well, not back to brand new but certainly a big improvement:
