Grad. Engineering Maintenance Jobs!

recently completed an ordinary degree in Engineering Systems Maintenance at DIT, finding it very hard to find jobs that do not require experience.

have thought of moving to OZ or the USA but cant seem to find any job opportunities?

- anyone know of any database as such where you can submit what you are qualified as and employers look for you?
- good places to look for graduate jobs?
(here or abroad, im easy! lol)

If only it were that easy, maybe that's the way it worked during the bubble but now job seekers need to take a very active role in getting a job. If you want a lot of spam you can submit your CV to all the job sites like jobs.ie and monster.ie but all you will get in return is a batch of spam email every day full of jobs completely unrelated to your degree or require 4-10 years experience or both.

If you want a job your best bet is to ask everyone you know if there are any engineering jobs where they work and if they could talk to someone about hiring you. If they have nothing ask them to ask their friends and so on untill you find something.

Not saying that this will work, hasn't worked for me so far but it does for some people. It's not what you know it's who you know.

I finished an ordinary degree and went looking for work, there was none so I went back to college for a year and there is still nothing out there. Or at least nothing to do with my degree (mechatronics btw). If you are on the dole which im sure you're not as your just out of college you can get an extra €50 on your dole if you get a job through fas, that's where all the grad jobs went as the company now doesn't have to pay for employes because they can get them for free through FAS. Problem is you cannot get these jobs when your not on the dole, unfortunately I have a job in a shop so I have no way to get these jobs as I would not be able to get the dole for 6 months and I can't survive for that long without money but maybe you can.

Australia or New Zealand are your best bets im going next year so is almost everyone I know that is not nailed down. The pay is amazing, the people are amazing and the weather oh god the weather.

As far as I can see you have two options move to a different country or get on the dole and grab a job from fas to build up experience.
