Hey guys. I'm looking for one of these

    sega-saturn-ps3-usb-controller.jpg

There are loads of online shops selling them but I have read many of them are cheap knock offs. The knockoffs have problems working on a ps3 and have inaccurate d-pads. The real deal is the same quality as the real saturn pad, which is the best d-pad ever in my opinion!

Can anyone recommend where I should buy from?

They seem pretty hard to get now.
Keep an eye on ebay, the genuine ones normally have a Sega sticker on the back left hand side.
Switch to stick, its worth the change and parts are easier to get than saturn controllers.

Yeah that's right and the real ones have an sls sticker on the back. Hardly seems worth while getting a stick when I don't regularly play fighting games (once or twice a month). So probably not worth the cost if I don't have time to learn stick, right?

There's a place in Cork that probably has those controllers for the saturn, not sure if you can buy the controller seperately tho.

Games Mania do have a bunch of Saturn controllers, but they don't have USB connections. You'd have to mod it yourself.

Before I moved to stick I searched the length and breadth of the world for one of those. They are the ultimate pad for fighters.
All I could find were knock offs. There is a retro games shop called The Rage in Dublin city centre now open. They could be worth a go

Picked up two of these bad boys in HMV for €3

They are USB and wireless. Designed for PS3 and work perfect

    They are so good :)

€3? wow well worth it for that but still not as good as the saturn pads if most peoples reviews are to be believed

Yeah, I wouldn't mind trying them at all.

Didn't know you could get them USB

Yep D-pad isn't half as good as saturn pad.
Fight pads definitively are second best though.
Didn't know they had wireless versions

    PS3 version is wireless
    Xbox is wired.

Dont think it comes any other way.

Ugh. I used one of those before. Stay away lad.

Well, I suppose that's not totally fair. They're actually very similar to the MadCatz Fight Pad, but they have a worse DPad. Feels much stiffer.

Yeah, don't like the way the shoulders are pointed but if that d-pad is good I will get it. Has anyone used one?

Edit: thanks for the info Sairus will say well away so.

I would honestly say to get a PS2 DualShock2 and adapters from eTokki.com.

    *edit*
Just remembered that there is this adapter.

    Converts
    • PS2 pad-to-Xbox360
    • PS3 pad-to-Xbox360
    • PS2 pad-to-PS3
    • 360 pad-to-PS3

Yup, I have many ps2 pads and a usb adaptor for them. Pales in comparison to the mighty saturn pad :)

I have heard reports of the d-pad not registering properly on these ones. The saturn pad is not expensive if I can find a real usb one or a converter. Using the pad also brings back good memories :)

Yes that one is a knockoff and easily available on ebay.

I have a couple of these. I intend using them, though. Those ones you see on eBay now certainly look different - like imitations.

Hey, just an update on this. Months later I finally found this.

Works perfect so very happy with it.

Here is a video about how to fix the buttons on SEGA USB controllers!
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bia5VX6X3Gw
Out of the box, the buttons on bootleg controllers are not working properly.
Many people come to conclusion that they are broken and throw them away -
while they could be easily fixed and become just as good as the official ones!
