I am a 6th year student thinking about Law in ucd but I really do not know the first thing about it. I am interested in criminology and human rights but I don't know if thats really included in the course? If someone could just let me know what its like truthfully I would really appreciate it! Please be brutally honest because I would hate to go in there and realise I dont want anything to do with law. Thanks :D

Hey there halliep. I'm doing business and Law myself, going into third year, so therefore I can't give a full overview of pure law. Basically its a four year degree now. In first year you cover Constitutional law, Contract Law, Tort law, criminal Procedure, General Intro into legal studies etc. It seems to have been rejigged a little this year I think. In any case, here's a link illustrating the course outline and it gives a link for each module which contains a brief description of the module.

[To view thw pure law modules, just click on the heading 'Law', then click on the subheading 'DN600: Law']

As you can see from the above link, you can indeed do various human rights and criminology electives from third year onwards.

Here are some more links on threads relating to Law in UCD made in the past year.
