Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hey guys,

Going to create a page for my work (business to business magazine) so it would kind of be a news feed. Am I better off creating a 'friend' page or a 'fan' page and why?

    Thanks!

You need to create a personal page (you), and then you set up the fan page (business) using your personal profile.

In my opinion, your business should definitely be a fan page. I "like" lots of business pages, but I'd rarely/never "friend" a business.
Friending someone gives them access to view your photos, view your friends etc. etc. I don't want to give a business that level of interactivity with me.

You must create a Page if it's a business or organisation. Otherwise you are in breach of Facebook's terms of service and your profile will be deleted.

    Hey Chris!

Didn't expect to see you 'round these parts! :)

I've just set the page up - I tried to do a 'friend' page but when I typed in the business name it wouldn't allow it so went with a 'fan' page. Bad thing about it is you can't search for relative companies and 'like' them or whatever.

So it looks like the best thing to do is email all my contacts and let them know about the page.

    Thanks for the replies lads!

You can search for similar companies or your clients and like them! Here's how
    - if logged in as yourself (private profile) go to any other fan page and click on the 'Add to my pages favourites'

    or

    - Go to your Fan page and click on 'Use Facebook as ... " and just zip around and like pages as you normally would,

As a page admin you can also "suggest page to friends" - you may want to suggest the page to appropriate personal friends.

Start putting your page URL in your business signature and in all your marketing material.

Also I would suggest not to use an automated process of updating status as this will lower your Edgerank.

Where is this 'use facebook as' you speak of?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,035 ✭✭✭✭-Chris-

    Log in as you.

    Go to your business page

At the top right it should list the Admins for the page (you). Under that there's a link for "Use Facebook As"

Thanks for all the help so far guys!

I need to put a FB like button on our company email and have code for same in both iframe and XFBML format.

Is it as simple as dropping one of these in to the sig in our email?

    Thanks!

I wouldn't recommend this approach at all!

You are better off just putting a link to your FB page. Your assuming too much. I wouldn't and I doubt most people would, 'Like' something without having seen it first. It also requires the person to be logged in to work smoothly.

With the link, people can look and then like if they wish.

    Hey guys,

Trying to add another admin to my page but keep getting error mesage. The person I want to add has already 'liked' the page however when I select them as an admin and click 'save changes' I get the following mesage:

'One or more admins could not be added. You may only add friends or people who already like this page. If you need to add a non-friend, make sure that they like the page first.'

    Any ideas?

You need 25 'likes' before you can gget a name as opposed to a code.
