Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

No sound from mkv via Iomega Media player

    Hi there,

I bought an Iomega media player and transferred avi's and MP4's and hooked the media player to the TV via HDMI and all worked perfectly.

I then transferred an mkv file and tried to play it and although the picture is perfect there is no sound. The Iomega player supports mkv files. Any ideas what I am doing wrong ?

The mkv file had sound when played on the laptop.

Are some HDMI cables better than others ? I paid €10 for my HDMI cable in LIDL.

All HDMI cables are the same. The iOmega Screenplays have issues with mkv's and DTS soundtracks. You'll need to use something like Popcorn to re-encode the audio and demux it to something like stereo, and then it'll work.

What exactly does all that entail ?

I only bought it yesterday and made asked to make sure that it was drag and drop and play away and that it supported mkv. Thye were the specific questions I asked.

Bring it back to where you bought it and get a refund, not fit for purpose.

I have downloaded and installed that popcorn audio convertor. So the mkv files work fine on the Iomega media drive now once you have run the through the Popcorn app first.
